Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I'm curious to know if anyone has ever bothered to try the 4y crank in the 2tg?
Is this how toyota got the 4T out to such a large displacement? Large stroke and O/S pistons?

From memory the 3T GTE stroke is 78mm and pistons are 85mm. The 4T GTE had the same stroke and 85.5mm pistons.

the race version which was the 4T GT had 84mm stroke and 89mm pistons or 2090cc. This is a very rare and powerful engine, not sure if the crank would fit into the 3T GTE, doesn't really matter because it would be virtually impossible to find a 4T GT crank....

    Cheers,
    Simon

Using long rods, the 4Y (86mm) crank and 89mm pistons you get 2090cc and a rod/stroke similar to the 3TGTE only down side is you'd need the pistons to have a gudgeon pin height of .400" which leaves sweet FA for piston rings...
Still thats like a 500cc upgrade over the 2T...
Would love to know if anyone actually bothered to try it

I think it's much easier to use the 4Y block than machine the crank to fit in the T series block, but then again I've heard they don't last long. I guess the amount of time and effort you try to get the 4Y crank in the T series block you could have built a strong 2/3T-GTE.

yea its not worth it at all, just wanted to know if someone had actually bothered..
I guess for the kind of money you'd need you may as well just get a custom 4T crank made up.
