    Default 2T/ 3T carby

hey guys, do any of you know if these carbys are any different? im might be able to get a 3t carby sonner then a 2t and im jsut wondering if the 3T will do the trick.

Another question is does anyone know if the earlier TA22's came with a different carby then the newer ones? cos i went to the wreckers yesterday and the carby i bought was slightly different. By that i mean the part were the throttle cable i believe hooked up didnt have a lil stopper bit. does that make sense?

suss-slide, i think you have to get the tubes themselves from toyota, about $40 for all 4, not too expensive.

I've read countless times that the T, 2T, 3T, 13T etc (i.e all the single cam versions) have the same inlet manifold bolt spacing etc so the carbies are interchangeable.
I've never proved this for myself though.

I would think that a carb for a 1800 engine will have larger fuel jets than that for a 1600 engine. I don't think it would be a major prbolem but could make the car run rich even with the best tuning you do.

I encountered this when we put a weber from a 2ltr Cortina on a 1600 Gemini one day. It was way too rich and although it was running it was undriveable. I have only tried this once though so could be an isolated problem, and re jetting a carb isn't too much trouble.

Best of wishes though and let us know how it goes.

well i'll prob just get the 2T carb, Ace have u ever encoutered any problems with ur spark plugs being covered with oil were the lead connect? Im thinkin that this could also be a cause of the poor fuel economy but the carby guy said that it wasnt anyhting elecrical but jsut the carb, what do u guys think?

Just a leaking seal causing the oil in the spark plug tubes, common problem. Just clean it all out before you pull the plugs out.

Repco / Auto Pro sell these seals. 10 x 10mm nuts and the rocker cover is off! easy as.

For first timers, label your plug leads with a bit of masking tape, from the front 1 through to 4 at the back.

it is all very simple just undo the bolts to the rocker cover and pull it off. were the spark plugs are there should normaly be a black ring looking thingie, they can also somethimes still be stuck to the rocker cover, right were i have pointed.

yes toyota still sell them and also you can still get them from any other large outlet. but normaly come with the new rocker cover cork gasket, unless its a rocker cover witch has a gasket like a K series engine around the bottome of the rocker cover

also i didnt read if u solved this problem but the 2t has a smaller carb than the 3t if you are to use a 3t carb you need a 3t intake manifold because the stud patter on the 3t carb are larger

    and thats my 2 cents

    Cheers Sean
