Default at what hp did you start breaking stuff

hey all im not shaw if this has been done b4 but im sick and bored
Like the title states at what hp did you start breaking stuff im intrested to see if there is an average on things breaking due to power.

    ill start it off .
    car : ae86
    engine: 4agte
gearbox : t50 203kw @wheels BANG on the way home from the dyno.
diff: jap ae86 disk 2 disk locked center BANG just after i put the w58 in.

sometimes you see cars that make good power and just wonder how come there drivelines are still copeing, if dynos are that far out between each other or the condition of the parts before hand or the abuse it has seen.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

torque breaking parts is one thing, but you could probably safely say that most failures are from abuse.... clutch dumping, burnouts, flat changing, ... general silliness

you would likely find that the people whose drivelines don't break, are either overengineered sufficiently, or they have learnt to drive with mechanical sympathy...

prior abuse is also an issue.. once cracks start forming (diff, gearbox, axles) then it is just a matter of time with a certain torque level...

    mechanical sympathy.
yeh becuase most cars are pretty good in standard form, they can take quite a bit of thrashing for a while becuase that driveline was built for it,
but as soon as you start extracting more power from the engine and trying to send it threw the driveline you start to move closer and closer to that breaking point.
Im just wondering if that point is at an average point (though a few things come into play).
just a "wonder" thats all, maybe some of you people out there have brought brand new cars and modded them till they break or maybe just abused them in standard form and they have broken.

As old corollas said, i think the driver has more to do with it than the power your sending through the drivetrain , i drove my 162 with a 3sgte and gt30r turbo with 14psi around for almost a year and didnt break a gearbox and i gave it hell. and it was only a sv21 gearbox. If your going to be a dickhead in it and you dont know how to drive properly your going to break shit, but in saying that, just because you break something doesnt mean your shit at what you do, things could already be on the way to destruction.

Everyone said i'd blow my RB20DET (yes nissan stuff, R32 turbo) gearbox when I put the RB25DET in with a motec etc. Only had 233rwkw, and my previous clutch lasted 4 years while driving hard, very mechanically sympathetic.

300km later stripped 3rd gear with torque when boost hit. Damn.

I drive my hachi extremley hard (alot fo cltuch kicks) with a 5puk brass clutch, 1.8l stroker, cams, ehadwork, etc and ahve never damaged my gearbox A friend of mine has 180rwkw in his AE86, still t50 and welded s series, but he deosnt' drop/kick the clutch, so hasn't broken anything. As said, mechancal sympathy is the key to survival! My key to survuval is lack of torque

    4agte ke30. 160kw atw.

t50 and t-series would have lasted longer given it easy.

it was way out of tune and running extremely rich, probably made less than 100hp at the fly...

    car : ae86
    engine: 4age
gearbox : t50 smashed 2nd gear just after I put on an exhaust. the gearbox had been whining since i got the car, and this was about 4 months into owning it. 4age, was fine, then exhaust, BOOM. (though I did pickup a MASSIVE gain in power with the exhaust)

It really sounded like a supercharger. I had been asked "does your car have a supercharger?"

Also, i think another thing that strained it then was the fact it had falken azenis.. aw..

    That is all.

This may have more to do with the problem than your fully hektic exhaust yo!

I would say it would've kept going as it was.. a lot lot longer than after the exhaust was put on.

I.e. it died about 30 minutes after putting the exhaust on, doh!

driveline: os twin plate w58 spicer shaft f series diff
cant break shit ,motul oil and frequent services ( sometimes putting old oil back in after a pantyhose strain), this car regularly gets reclutched on the freeway and the track in excess of 150kph. all things break eventually but if you look after them in the meantime it prolongs the inevitable.

sprinter, 190kw 4agte, t50, s-series locker. hasent copped a massive thrashing, but it hassent been babyed either. been running for about 4 months, and was entered in powercruise

gearbox hasent broken yet, still seems ok maybe getting a little notchy into scond. my exccedy 4puck brass button is now stuffed (slipping, was brand new). broke a center, one axle and twisted the other. all should be rosy now hopfully, ive got the f-series and w5x bellhousing and gearbox ready to go in.
