well i have finally got my hilux back from the auto elec.the engine is running with no map sensor it idles and free revs perfectly but as soon as you go to put load on it ,it runs like shit ,and when you plug the map sensor in it just stalls and wont restart.the map sensor came from toyospares and i am not real sure if it is even off a 1jzgte. i dont suppose anyone has the part no off the correct map sensor or any idea at all. by the way these things sure sound the grouse. cheers bigwad

with no map sensor you are running at 100kpa or 0psi all the time. On idle it will be very rich and as it goes into boost it will be lean, that is why it sounds bad.

The stock 1jz map sensor is a 2bar absolute unit so will read up to 1bar of boost. AFAIK you could actually use any 2 bar MAP as there are 3 wires on them, power, ground and 0-5v signal. I don't know part numbers but do a search and it may come up.

part number is 89420-14060 for 1jz-gte map sensor

thanks fellas i went and checked my map sensor and the part no is 89420-22220 .i wonder what it is off , i tried a search but no info.i suppose i need to just try one off a going car to see if it fixes it. cheers bigwad

Ten bucks its off some 7 AFE or something simmiler , wreckers shit you to death sometimes with there wrong parts .

Just put that through the EPC and got a big fat "Not applicable" from it. Wrong part number i assume.

Ask them to swap it for the correct part

hi champ i had an issue with 1jz map sensors as well, don`t be fooled as the map sensor off my jzx90 motor was different to to the map sensor on my gf`s soarer it was a different colour, shape and part no. and they`re probably different again for jzx81`s and ma70 supras (1j`s that is)
