1JZ's have super-mega belt tensioners
they run on the outer edge of the belt
the spring rate in them is phenominal!
you need to remember the tensioner can only go between the crank pulley and supercharger
Hi,
I have already done an SC14 conversion on my AW11, and ended up with a manual belt tensioning standard 4AGE 16V style (1 locking + 1 adjusting bolt) setup. Adjusting the belts isn't too much of a big deal, but it would be cool not to have to. I am now looking to do a new setup with a twin-screw S/C and was wondering about some sources of self adjusting tensioner pulleys. I saw the XR6 turbo has a neat one with a kind of spring loaded arm.
I am basically looking for suggestions.
Cheers, Nick

It may be a shade on the dodgy side, but you could try a nylon bolt/loctite on the locking bolt and leave it a little loose, and whack a spring (valve spring or similar) under the head of the tensioning bolt.
Hen
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
i thought the commodores were like a 6pk belt ?but certainly they have their own self tensioner. i couldnt imagine they would cost anything more then a song from the wreckers.
