OK so a result of todays bits and pieces...

    AW11 caliper - 3.8kgs
    ZZT-231/ZZE-123 caliper - 4.6kgs
    ST-202 caliper - 6kg

    AW11 front rotor - 5kg
    ST-185 front rotor (278mm) - 6.5kg

I also found that the ST202 calipers do NOT fit over the 278mm rotors on an AW11 hub, they are not out by much though.

I'm assuming that would be because they need a 275mm rotor

actually Steve, the ZZE-231 are designed for a 275 rotor as well but fit perfectly. I have a feeling it would need grinding down further than 275 to fit the ST202 calipers.

Cuzzo, fronts are all done apart from some new brake pads, as I'm having trouble finding some ZZT-231 pads in stock anywhere. I haven't started on the rears yet. EDIT: I'll have some Ferrodos by tomorrow

yep, everything should just bolt on, but you need rotors, calipers, and pads for the post 87 model to do so.

it has been done heaps of times before.

Well I'm not an expert on how to read the results I have but I put both my aw's onto the brake tester at my course.

The grey car which has the smaller st185 twin piston brakes with original rotors yielded better efficiency than my red car which is equipped with st185 single piston calipers and matching rotor as well as a 1" hilux master cylinder scored lower.

    Red car:

    Grey car:

Sorry results aren't in the same format but they are off''ve the same machine.

Interesting results. The clamping force of the twin pistons must be much greater. Not that surprising as the piston area of the twin is greater than the single IIRC.

Do you have a wheel by wheel break-down for the red car the same as for the Grey one?

annoyingly I don't. the printer wouldn't play along and kept chomping the paper hence why i took a photo of that screen instead.

I can tell you the master cyl is brand new and the calipers have been rebuilt about a month ago with tgp kit.

YO! Seeing as this is the AW11 Brake Upgrade Thread...

What slotted rotors are still available for the AW11 SC? And does anyone know a place that can do a good deal?

st185 celica brake lines, i bought callipers with chopped hoses, as the calliper end is different between aw11 and st185, is the other end that fits up to fixed pipeing, the same i am thinking they are?
