So I was wondering who has taken the time or seriously researched building one of three 2.200cc, 2.400cc or the 2.600cc 18R-G.
I know this may be a odd subject, but this forum is the only forum still working this engine series in any serious manner.
Congratluations Andrew, you did not muck around getting them in and the car up and running. The engine sounds puuuuuurfict...
Glad I could help.
Now I have a question for those who may know. I am looking for a good chassis dyno tuner for 18rg weber carby race engines in Sydney. I am a liitle tired of being jammed by supposed carby & efi specialists who claim they can tune anything. Two detonated engines later, I cannot afford to risk serious hardware anymore.
Are there any recommendations from first hand experience??

Very nice listing of "Stock" 18R-G OEM builds which are always very useful for the average standard rebuild specifications, however, I was hoping for more input on the modified versions of these engines to get to the legendary horsepower numbers that I have read about in some of the older Japanese Car magazines from the 1970's and 1980's! I have said too much. lets see what other info is out there!

I had a 2.4 and turbo'd unit. From memory, 22R crank, side ground 18RG rods and 22R pistons. It wasnt difficult, just needed attention to detail from the machinist. Made the thing an even bigger torque monster and it still revved ok as it brought it back to 'square'

It paid off to service ten years in the military stationed in Okinawa Japan. I was there when all of those performance engines were still fresh, still running on the street and knew what information was required to compete, but with wife and family my dreams were slightly delayed. Until Now!!!

Anyone know where I can get a MLS head gasket? Last spring I was preparing to put my Corona again on the street, ordered from two places "metal head gasket" and quess what? When they arrived they were norm graphite ones.. HKS definetly made them because I have one long time ago and I think that Cometic made them also.If no one makes them anymore would it be time to make group order ? Anyone interested?
Now that that has been answered, lets move on!

You are welcome, and those came from the vendors at the last T.O.R.C and J.C.C.S shows that I had attended a short while ago since they were handing them out and they had some products with them for sale, that was my best and latest lead on old parts, except for the HKS Lit, which was from a older Japanese magazine.
Suggestion, come and attend one of these shows, It is not far from Finland verses flying to japan and you will have the latest sources for parts available. Worth the trip rather than asking that same question over and over again. T.O.R.C. is in May 3rd 2014. I'll see you there, OK?

Hey all. Chasing some 18RG external dimensions.
Length/Width/Height (from deepest and shallowest point of the sump)
Next big question. Sump position? Front/mid/rear?
Thanks!
I'm thinking of a 18RG for my Toyota Stout. Would it handle light towing?
Thanks again.
Would be an easy install into the stout. And I've towed upto 2 tonne with my 18rg
Looking for a new toy. If you have something 18r powered let me know.
