i lubed everything up when i assembled it about 2 years ago. it wont turn in either direction. i was just about to fill it with oil and crank it through to avoid damage when this happened.

Doesn't sound great mate. I'd be removing the clutch and flywheel just to make sure nothing's jamming it up there, but if you suspect that it's seized then i'd be taking it very seriously. I'd be taking the plugs out to have a look at the bores with a boroscope and maybe taking the cam cover off and inspecting the cams and chains just to be safe. If you can't get a boroscope then you might have to take the sump and have a squiz from underneath.

Honestly as soon as my engines are fully assembled on the stand they get a full fill of oil and turned over by hand until they're primed, my current 18R-G gets turned over for 5 minutes or so once every few weeks just to keep the good stuff circulating. I don't understand why people leave motors dry.

I got it turning. It was only left dry as I didnt have an oil filter. Or a car to put it in. It was being used as a coffee table.

Good to hear matey, nothing worse than having to pull down a freshly built motor.

Well other than an engine which wont keep running, i have been dealt with another motivation blow.
Due to the windy days of late, my perfectly good black bonnet was blown from its storage place and has now a damaged/dented/scratched bonnet bulge.
    thats killed me now.
    more steps back. errrrr

Sorry for the stupid question again, is there supposed to be a clip holding the clutch fork to the throw out bearing? I just got it all bolted together and just realized I may have forgotten if it's supposed to have a clip in it.

Yup sure does....otherwise it won't pull back with the clutch fork and will be rattling around loose on the input shaft..the 'ears' on the bearing carrier won't line up with the fork arms and i suspect something nasty will result...at best you probably won't get full clutch release, at worst a very rapidly spinning pressure plate may meet something it's not supposed to!!

Argh. I'm so not suppose to put the 18rg in my car, everything is going wrong. Of the 4 gearboxes here I've got 1 clip. Not sure how but yep although I only found 3 clutch forks and 2 throw out bearing carriers and I found this one clip in a w57 bellhousing on the floor.

Found them online. $4 for the clip and $84 postage.

Yeah I found them on toyodiy, $4 each. If I can't find one at the wrecker il order them on Monday. Has anyone got a picture of the 2 different extractors? I'm not sure if I have celica or corona style.
