I know the benefits of stand alone over emanage. while i continue my build in other areas, i'll look for suitable stand alone that i can learn to tune and not rely on sending anywhere for tuning each time. The cost for stand alone over std ecu is the issue, when my driving is just daily commute.

    thanks guys.

To tune the emanage properly would also require dyno time. With the mega squirt you should be able to get a base map as a starting point from somebody to take a lot of your guesswork away.

It quite likely won't be fine!

After the coin you have sunk into this build you want to skimp on a critical part like the flywheel? Madness

The stock flywheel is a chunk of cast iron built for a truck engine...period. They are way too heavy to contemplate in a performance application.

Every flywheel I have seen that has had the slightest spirited life had cracks! They may never have failed but that's a farking massive risk. Lighten one as you would have too and it's risk x10

And of course a decent light flywheel is essentially free up.

There are options out there for reasonable money, or just get Jase to fab one up? Personally I'd have no issue running an alloy one either and did so on my old 3S which pumped out 270rwkw at one stage.

Truly, one of the most important mods to get right is the flywheel....don't skimp!

    *sigh*

FINE, ill get the stupid flywheel.

Someone tell me where too buy that isnt too painful to deal with. Work has me so flat out at the moment i have little time to make effort searching for things anymore.... stupid 2012 Jaycar Catalogue.

I might check out RHD in japan, and maybe email fidanza as well (could find a listing for 18R on their website).

In saying that like willo fan said i am going to have to use the 18r pick up as its its the right sump configuration for me so could use the good 18r housing with spacer plate and just a polished up outer rotor.
Yes the oil pump dilemma. I could get them wire cut here in NZ for not a hole lot its just getting a drawing done exactly right then modelling it all to check clearances throughout the pumps entire rotation that is the hard bit.

The outside score matters not a fleas whisker. That score should be fine. That clearance needs to be to tollerance in the green book. Turn it down & throw it in the bin. If you are going to lose pressure with these it is at the end clearances of rotors to housing & pickup housing. Spend your time getting that ccclose to ppperfect or bbetter. I think that toyota 5 mm spacer is a piece of crap for clearance but it works fine if all the other clearances are tight.

I think fidanza stopped making the 18r units, I used a 22r one and tapped the crank to suit the larger diameter bolts. From memory the kameari ones are about the same coin and are within 100g on the weight.

By the way my pump 12 mm modified = 37 mm rotors is still flogging away in Mr drinky drinky, just fine same psi thousands of kliks later. over 400 k per week.
I am using an 18 RG 30mm pump in the RG. It still sits on the bench because the RC in the SR 5 will not lay down.

Thanks massively for all the frywheel love guys!
I've been recommended to avoid a flywheel that is too light.... this car is going to see a fair bit of drag racing and apparently a super light flywheel makes consistent launching quite difficult.

Hence, Kameari and Fidanza are OUT. 4.4kg = too light.

Can one of you guys weigh your stock flywheel for me, and advise the weight?

RA35GT - how much does that steel billet flywheel of yours weigh?
