Using the Mk1 eyeball technique, you can get the cams pretty close by lining the cam notches up with the cam cap arrows, with the top of the chain and the exhaust side taut and the crank at TDC. Small adjustments from there should be made with a dyno run.

As for the valves, if you rotate the crank 1 revolution so the cams are pointing in the opposite direction, you should be able to measure the other 4 valves. It is important that all valves are measured and are within spec.

So SW sell top tensioners as well the bottom one???
    How about guides???

Guides... no. I believe they are working on getting a supplier to re-coat them possibly. Top tensioner doesn't look like the original, but does work.

i never knew these were so sensitive. i didnt have much info when i put mine back together so i assume its all timed up correctly it was going pretty good second last time i ran it but last time it ran like a welshman and started backfiring under load under 3k then cleared up once it revved up over that just like it was after i got the exhaust done.
got no time for it anyway working 3 jobs and with 2 kids my plate is full atm.

btw whats the factory efi manifolds worth these days?

yeah those EFI manifolds are getting harder and harder to find.
Its soon going to get to the point where custom manifolds will be cheaper and easier.

Thats an allen head bolt welded into the tensioner housing. If anyone knows of Andre in Perth building a black RA23/ RA28, feel free to pass on his details.
