come on guys, some of you make it sound like it's the worst thing that can happen.
Carbies to EFI, you still get a roar, might not be as loud, but still, a nice air filter and you still get that throttle sound.
I'm starting to feel bad, as I have had EFI on my ra28 since I got it...![]()
am I really that deprived?
then again, as part ofthe older generation, economy and reliability counts.![]()

Hi,
I'm going EFI on the engine that's being rebuilt for Trini. I wanted a modernised 18R-G, as I got the carb version already in the 88. So, Trini will be getting EFI with quad-ITBs and a nice ECU, ported and polished, matched outlet manifold and nice extractors.
I'm looking forward to seeing how she goes.
That means the next 18R-G that comes along will have to be bored and stroked out to 2.4litres, with a bunter turbo and all the nice work and stuff to make it very, very angry. And.... shoehorn it into a KE-10!![]()

looks to me as the older generation has it figured, EFI will rule and power over the carb set up.Originally Posted by river

Hi,
Taking it past 3 grand can open up worm holes, change the space-time continuum and bring back the dead. It is not wise to do such things.

Ah carbs/EFI not so much about us oldies finally turning some corner just seeing what the fuss is about.
Just wait a few years when every young bloke and his Classic Toyota has EFI, it will still cost them as much as running carbs due to their heavy right foot.
Then they'll see and hear some old fart (me or someone else as old or older) with old fashioned carbs and go "wow" what's that.
The best bit about getting older, nothing any young person does is new.
Regards
Rodger
