check things like return line, fuel pressure, and that the pump is getting enough fuel.

hey guys i've got a ae92 map sensor 4agze in my ae82 twinky. it is running a vl turbo fuel pump. The problem i have is that i have to crank the motor over for about 7 or 8 seconds before it will start. i think that the fuel may be draining back to the tank and that the fuel pump has to build it back up to the injectors every time. to get the pump to prime i have to crank it for a sec to start the fuel pump. even after doing this it takes along time to start. Would this b a fuel press reg problem or should their b some sort of one way valve in the fuel line? the other thought i had is that one of or all the injectors are leaking down while the engine is switched off. any thoughts? thanks..............

what ecu is it running just standard?
Even if the fuel drains back the rail will almost instantly pressurise again. the fuel pump should prime as soon as you turn the key to on for about 4 seconds then it will stop until the key is turned to start where it will continue to run if the engine starts.
It is normal for the fuel to drain back when the engine is turned off.
If the injector is leaking you have bigger problems than just starting, you will be able to see and smell if its leaking.
I dont know if you could put your long starting time down to just the fuel system...

hey mate, running standard ecu and the pump only primes on crank, I think injector/s may be leaking into motor. i have a feeling it is fuel related. thanks for your imput guys, i will check fuel pres and c if it drops off over time. taOriginally Posted by BeRad
