hello
i have industrial scales at work that i can use to weigh my 3rz motor and box next week
Okay cool, thanx for your help, I'm considering putting 1 into a ta22,
as has been asked in another thread, similar to putting one into a RA28, it just wont fit without dry sumping it. even then, it still wont fit under the bonnet.

hold that thought for a while. since RA40 engine bay = RA28 = RA23, i think it will fit
ive measured my 3RZ and it looks like it will fit on one condition; the plenum and piping cant be higher then the top of the cam cover. ie it will need a custom plenum straight up
there looks to be about 5-10mm clearance once its in.
the 3RZ looks about the same height as the 1GGTE with the intake plumbing across the top of the engine.
give me a couple months to prove/disprove this![]()
i think i may have to atleast slightly trim the rear of the sump to clear the xmember (prado = front sump)
hello
I was gonna go custom intake manifold with front mounted throttle body, I have a front sump that will need to be chopped a bit for ground clearance - it was from some 4x4 and has a very deep section so I'll have to shorten the pickup too...
I think i have a 3 RZ manual w56 bellhousing id sell .
Dave
Dave: yeah? how much and where are you?
is it just me, or has the 3rz become the new hotness?

i think that since peoplel started turboing them and getting huge numbers it was destined to become the new hot enigne to modify
Looking for a new toy. If you have something 18r powered let me know.
RIP, where ever you are :- 1974 celica, 3tgte and 186.5hp at 6500rpm
Yep big hp and still a four cylinder caught my eye![]()
Dropping the amount of oil in the sump does'nt sound like a really good idea dry sump would be a better idea. They make kits for them. Just gotta spend the money.Originally Posted by ONCE-NA

my reasons are:
-overall weight and length (better weight distribution)

-capacity- 2.8 is about the biggest FI engine you can put in a RA40 AFAIK
-no dizzy trying to sit in your dash (ie 3sgte)
