    I should also add that if you have play in any other joint, it will usually make the steering box "slop" feel much worse than it really is. I replaced my pitman arm alone, and found steering to improve 2 fold, but it still had slop. Closer inspection showed that most steering joints are old and worn, and have a little play in them (from 0.5mm to almost 2mm) - add all this up across 6 joints and you have your 40deg of movement accounted for, and then some!


    Here are all the part numbers of the steering components for an RA28/RA23 celica. I was absolutely stunned at how cheap the whole lot was!

    For around $300, i got:
    SX5241 - Pitman arm
    SX4246 - Idler arm
    TE489L - outer tie rod end x 2
    TE490R - inner tie rod end x 2
