I haven't seen under 12volts at the battery Ribfeast, and that's with Two thermo's running stereo, and internal blower. If I flick the headlights on it will drop into the 11's though.
I just fitted a 7M alternator to mine, it has apparently been rebuilt and rewound etc, but it still sits on 11.3-11.7V at idle, and goes no higher than 13-13.3V when driving.
I think the battery is shot though. 550CCA one of some sort.

1J's shouldnt idle at 630rpm... try checking your throttle stopper screw..
my battery is 780cc.
takes forever to charge, and no-time to discharge...
its shot, but im too poor at the moment to replace it, so i take it for a spin around the block every three days in the mean time.
Elmo.
I just stick mine on a 6A charger at night...
Bloke at supercheap ran some sort of fancy tester over it, and it diagnosed the alternator as the problem. But the battery had been on charge all night and I'd only driven 5km down the road to see him.
My thermos are wired directly to the alternator, and are always on when the ignition is on - I believe this is why my volts are so low at idle. Even my souped-up re-wound alternator can't hack 30-40A of load at idle + charge a batt at the same time.
Without the thermos I idle in the mid 12's of volts.
Just bought a temperature switch kit from Jaycar today, so I'm going to wire that into the aftermarket temperature gauge/sender to come on at 100ish and off at 95C.
I've tried to fix the 630RPM idle to no avail, I put the screw in and it did idle higher, but the damn ECU / ISCV compensated for it quite quickly![]()

Bugger me... turning fans on at 100deg C??? That sounds rpetty high?? I've got mine coming on at 90 and off around 86ish... and I thought that was high.

My car sits on 92-95C all the time, with the fans on solid. Might rig it to come on at 98C. Just picked up the Jaycar kit this arvo to control the fans using the temp sensor from my aftermarket gauge.
Who knows how accurate that gauge is, it reads 2-3C higher than my old capillary one.
