Default 20v head, 16v or GZE block

just wondering if anyone has successfully done this??

i would like to put a 20v head on a age(non turbo) or GZE/GTE(turboed) block depending on cash,

i was wondering if anyone has done this without a whole lot of hassel of messing with the whole cooling system as in this thread, or is the this inevitable with putting any 20v in a sprinter or AE71??

i know this thread maybe a n00by but i couldn't find a thread where someone had actually done this, just people saying they were thinking about it..

    hey shinn,

the RWD cooling problem with a 20v is primarily in the head arangement and whatever block you use if its RWD you wont avoid the issue. I had the exact same idea a few years ago.

As for your question the only difference between an ae92 bottom end and a 20v is the pistons.

what were you wanting to do? keep it na or boost it?

if keeping it na, why not use the rest of the eng/block it comes with?
20v heads onto 4agze bottom ends for 4agte's has been done numerous time, amazed you cant find any info on it.

i probably didn't look hard enough

but yeah if i price it up and i can afford it then turbo ZE/TE block, basically because of the low comp and probably stronger pistons/rods

other wise i'll just put the 20v in, but i really want to get a bit more power out of it,

from what i understand 20v head will go on ANY 4A block just make sure you use the 20v HG. if your going to boost all you really need from the ZE would be the pistons. 20v block(along with later ZE block) are "upscaled" from previous blocks as they have oil squirters for piston cooling.

note: i am in no way talking about Blacktop as it is a completely different monster all together.

EDIT: just realized your talking about saving the hassle of re-routing cooling, unfortunatly changing the 20v to a RWD layout you will have to do something like Sam_Q did or similar. (like i did). just to let you know though.. it seems like a lot to do, but it really is not. if you had the parts made up that you need its less than a days worth of work to put it all together.

pictures are worth a thousand words...... http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods3.htm

about half way down you can see physical differences, other than what you see BT is MAP ST is AFM unless your running aftermarket ECU then can be either. ummm what else. BT has light(er)weight internals.
