I bought a Walbro copy on purpose (from a reputable shop). Walbros have a reputation for dying. This shop has had dozens of Walbros die, and never one of these copies die. Both flow the same.......but mine was only $120.

I guess thats different if you were told it was a genuine Walbro though.

Hmmm, interesting so the copies worked better for them? Mine was $135 with post so I'll see how it goes, it's only for a 5MTE after all

smeh, i had a fake one in the celica it could handle the task, never broke down in over 2 years. and was never noisy etc, so long as your not paying top dollar for a fake i woudlnt be to worried. but that is still not the point.

I take it a 5MTE wont need huuuuuge amounts of fuel..............but I wouldnt go as far as assuming all Walbro fakes are the same. Id just keep an eye on fuel pressure to be sure.

As opposed to not checking = dead engine = sadder

if you really don't want it , you can claim " item significantly not as described claim" through ebay and they will reimburse you minus a $25 (or something) fee . does yours have WALBRO stamped into the body ?

Its a 5MTE, does it really matter if the engine leans out and nukes itself...

Yes it does, and made in USA etc but it's fake if you read the above linked article.

Spoke with my mate and he said it took him most of his saturday and it was plenty of work. Obviously I don't want it to fail but if it does I'd swap it out again, just more practice for me.
