Default stall sequence on 1J at the drags

ii just got my 2800rpm stallie in my car, what is everybody stall sequence at the drags

do you just bring it up to 2800rpm and flatten the throttle as you launch, or do you stall it higher

Stall as high as you can in the time available. My best 60 ft time of 1.689 was done after stalling for 5 seconds on the converter, getting to 4000rpm and 16psi of boost. Of course you need drag tyres that can take this.

    search button Phil!

I shouldn't give any advice on stalling up with best PB of 2.37!

Some have said that using part throttle for a long time has increase the rpm used for takeoff rather than pushing forward or spinning the tyres. I tried this last time and it may have helped a little.

power at the engine is the same, higher stall means more "slip" and you will lose some trap speed. Congrats on the PB anyway Very nice 60ft on non drag radials!

I stalled up a 1.595 60ft tonight at WSID. Unfortuately no log, but I think it was 23psi of boost and 4400rpm.

Handbrake, foot brake, OD off, PWR on, hold throttle around 50-75% and let it go as high as it will go. When the light goes green (or just before), release both brakes and mash the throttle to the floor Half-track enable O/D.

Takes my car around 5-8 seconds to come up on full stall on the stock converter, but I think my BOV leaking is responsible for that.
Got a 1.97 60 foot on ordinary street tyres, I'll buy some street slicks when I have some money and try and go for a 12.5 or better.

autos are all new to me, but when you stall isn't your foot flat to the floor on the acelerator anyways?

And when you release the brake, does it break into wheel spin?

I like to give it part throttle initially then go to full throttle after a second or so, seem to help it get on quicker.

Sometimes, like it did for me last night on my third run. If the tyres are up to it, it should hold and take off like a rocket. I feel its a lot softer and better on the drivertrain than doing a clutch dump in a manual as you pre-loading it over time then releasing. Of course it heats the gearbox fluid like nothing else.

some GTR boys hold their cars on the handbrake while slipping the clutch to "stall" it as to get boost and so it doesnt shock the driveline so much on launch

sometimes u get wheelspin, i got axle tramp the other day on the launch and still ran a 1.98 60'

    u dont need slicks for a decent launch ribby, i got a 1.895 on 2nd hand $10 a pop RE92 205/60/15 commodore tyres
