I have steelies though, a bit less low-down torque. I had a leaky BOV back then too, I'll be interested to see what it runs this time
I found full throttle on the stall seemed to flood it, or at least stop it from stalling up as high as it normally should. Partial throttle saw me right up to 2500-2800RPM or something, and on boost.

I really can't wait to see how my car launches with the nitrous. I figure if I stay at 50-75% throttle and get it up to 2500 or maybe 2800rpm and then go full throttle just before the green and nitrous activated at 3000rpm it should get going pretty well.

Slightly off topic but some of you may know of this fella with rb20 in 120y. He is running an auto. He was running 13.3@113mph (2.3 60ft). (very similar to what my car has run). Swapped converter 5 times to get a good one. ran 11.8@112mph with a lot of slip. Swapped it 2 more times and upped boost by 2psi to 17psi and ran 11.08@118mph (1.51 or 1.52 60ft and picked the front left wheel up!). I hope that by going to the nitrous it will stop me from changing converters 7 times to get it right!

I have a MV 2800 converter for the 2J, it will spin the wheels at 2500 in first and only flashes to 2000rpm.

If I hold it in second I can get it to 3500rpm (if the weather is cold and takes AGES to get there). My 60 foot times are around 2 seconds. I need a 1.70 and I will have a 10 sec pass! MV strongly recommended against getting a larger converter than what I got, but I think I need the next size up. He said that you would only need the next size up if you went to a GT42 or similar.

The 1J converters seem to stall much higher than the 2J ones.

I adjusted my handbrake tight yesterday & road tested again, with street rubber I still cant get past about 2500rpm & 2psi boost before the rear wheels let go. This is with the footbrake on hard, and the handbrake pulled through the ceiling

I'm gonna go for a disc rearend conversion & hope that the extra clamping of the discpads & internal handbrake drum helps.

    Cheers

i was running a (buggered) stock 7M with BHG and screwed auto, stalled it up with the brake and handbrake, got 7psi of boost (12psi was full boost, leaking like a sieve) tyres screeching off the start line.

still only managed 2.1 quickest ehehehhe.
