Isnt the bosch an external? The 341 and 342 walbros are both internal pumps (I have a 341 in both of my supras) noisy but effective

    Edit - Nope 040 is internal. 2 x 044 is what I'm using externally

Well... if you want to be sure you are getting Walbro... I know/work with a company that sells Walbro >edited<. I KNOW for a fact that they get/sell GENUINE Walbro pumps.

Part of my job as tech specialist is I'm on a first name basis with one of the lead engineers for Walbro. One of the COMMON discussions I have with this engineer is how many folks "over pump" their cars. Sometimes it can lead to idle, and off idle operation issues! We discuss pump and pump options for MANY different cars.... not just Toyotas... or AE86s.....

Not to burst your bubble... but NO n/a 4AGE needs a GSS pump either 341, or 342. The highest n/a hp for a 4age is say 275??? you only need 145 lph to satisfy that power level!

Now, if you are running boost... and say you are pushing in EXCESS of 400hp... THEN you MAY need a GSS341, or GSS342.

A few brief facts... stock Walbro fuel pump kit for the AE86 will support upto 160 crank hp. If you are running more than 160hp, fuel-pumps.net and I "developed" an intermediate kit for those running more than 160, but less than 240 (n/a hp) In effect we put together a pump from a B18C Integra and the install parts from the AE86 and came up with a boost for those that need more... yet don't need overkill. The final nice piece to this... it runs quiet since it isn't a "racing part" Btw.. the GSS pumps are all racing parts... so there is no warranty................

Mine are mounted in the foam isolator. It only whines when it gets hot. It's weird. Peewee's does the same.

who mentioned putting any of those pumps into a 4AGE powered car? IMO theres no merit for your little advertisement.

    we're talking about a stock 1J here.

I do apologize for the "advertisement", my point wasn't to sell as much as it was to describe overpumping. I know 4AG best... so I was showing that as examples....

It doesn't matter what engine you have... overpumping is common. If you don't have a NEED for somethng why buy it? And buying something cause it is what every magazine tells you to... or all your buddies tell you to... just doesn't make sense. Why purchase the wrong part when the right part is available??

Walbro makes MANY pumps... 80 lph, 115 lph, 135 lph, 145 lph, 155 lph, 190 lph, 255 lph. For purposes of simple calculations each liter can support 2hp(Walbro tests actually show 2.5 hp) but that is with new pump...most pumps don't stay "new" for long.... so a fair calculation is 2hp per liter of fuel supplied... for n/a use

I do apologize for being a bit over zealous.....

btw... another simple method of fuel calculations is to take all your fuel sources... multiply it by your maximum duty cycle, add 20% for wear and manitaining pressure and your pretty much set
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!

you'd buy something that was too big in order to avoid rebuying the same item because its no longer up to scratch.

people dont usually go from 100hp to 400hp, its usually a progression from 100 to 200-300-400.

instead of buying 3 different pumps for each upgrade stage, you just buy the 400hp pump and be done with it.

People also buy the Walbro 255 because its brand new and only $175 and changing fuel pumps is not something you want to do regularly (unless its external mount).

I've got a walbro gss341 making 304rwkw at 23psi which is about 66psi rail pressure. No signs of leaning out. Going by weight of the vehicle and quarter mile results, engine has 480hp, walbro rated at 500hp, so I'm pretty close to maxing it out.

I went Bosch 040 intank. Like most things I choose the more expensive product.

It was quite a drama getting it to fit the way i wanted but id do it again if i had to.
