Mr 1jz: what is the response like compared to a gt35 1.06 like 2jzr31? I would think it would be a bit worse. If he is having trouble getting it on boost with a 2800 stall, I would ask Mike for the 3400 stall. That is if they do them for 2jz converters like they do for 1j's.

Get the new turbo kit in, drive to MV's, get his advice

Or check out what people use in the US with t78 size turbos. A lot seem to use the 3800 by Boost Logic but I think that is also for very large turbos.

in the a340 boxes, power to the first gear solenoid is maintained in reverse. there is no dedicated reverse solenoid. The wire you would be refering to coming from the three pin plug @ front of gearbox is for the reverse lights ( wire comes out of inhibitor switch).
My way of understanding is that a transbrake does lock first and reverse together, but i believe there is much modifying in the way of increasing the size of the passageways in the box to handle the extra flow and HEAT!. Reverse isnt just actuated electrically, but mechanically through the lever as well. To effectively lock these two together would involve machine work and mounting another solenoid to redirect fluid flow in the desired manner. Not a five minute job - but if anyone can nail it - Mike from MV will.

I'd also suggest if you're trying to use Aussie R31 rear brakes, it's no wonder you have trouble as those are some seriously crappy brakes, plus the handbrake caliper would provide no extra help at all. Fit some decent rear brakes as a beginning point!

i worked out the other night at the drags, if i am hard on the foot brake, and use about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle it'll sit at about 2800rpm and then all of a sudden start to rise again

Clutch pack slippage? Have you tightened or loosened your kickdown/line pressure cable? 2800RPM is about the limit of the stock converter I think unless you have super sticky tyres.

Yeah the stock 1JZ stall is known to stall pretty damn high and the MV 2800 unit goes WAY over 2800 from all reports I have heard. The MV 2JZ 2800 doesn't stall anywhere near as high.

Anyhow I am getting a MV 4000rpm stall for my car. Should be bloody awesome. It has a 2300rpm flash speed so should still be very steetable and it will have awesome top end as it has a worked lock up clutch that can be activated in the deep end at WOT. Costs $600. Should be worth it though.
