Default st162 ---- bout to get roadworthy... help with small probs im having?

    hey guys

bout to put a new st162 i just bought in for a roadworthy at 9am tomorrow morning and the washers aren't working on the front windscreen....

i've worked out what the problem is... when the bonnet is up, they work, when down they dont and i've noticed that the cable that holds the water gets crushed when i close the bonnet

i've got pics to show what happens exactly and i'm wondering what's different in other people's st162's that would make the not happen...

i'm sure i could manage to get it straight with some stuffing around, but i dont wanna have to do that every single time the bonnet is open and closed...

    here are pics

this one shows the cable surrounded in yellow that i'm talking about.

and this pic is when closing the bonnet, you'll notice the cable bends itself and crushes when bonnet is closed

this pic shows the water bottle... i know the cap is cracked, but could someone shed some light... is this actually the size of the washer bottle?
cause it empties so darn fast... i'm used to the bottle of a ta22 similar to the size of the bottle next to it in the pic.... must be a pain having it go so fast?

ok... i've taken out the cable in question and turned it around as it seemed to me it was hellbent on bending that way...

it now bends properly... only prob now is that the other end is loose and worn and pops out of the squirter end and starts squiring water inside the engine bay....

will have to source another one of these... can they be bought brand new? something that a bursons auto shop might sell.?

still wondering bout the water bottle though... goes through water way too fast

ok... that issue isn't so bad atm....

next prob that could possibly stop me from passing a roadworthy is that the rear brakelights dont seem to work...

if i turn the headlights on, the rears will turn on also.. but not the brake lights...

first thing i was gonna do was check the fuses... BUT!!.. .where the fck are they located...
i notice next to the battery there are some fuses, but the casing says they are for other things... coudn't find it inside the car...

    does anyone know?

i'll go out and have another look.... might check the bulbs... see if they aren't blown

    hi wepon
with the washer hose just snip a little of the end
brake lights are more likely a fuse it is unusual that both globes would have blown together but who nknows also check to see that one of the wires have not came of the stop light switch cheers

alrights... i'll do that for the washer hose

where is the stop light switch???

i'm assuming that the lights are to do with the gearbox, i've got no reverse light either and i managed to get the boot lid light working (wasn't in properly)

the T piece is running the wrong way for that washer hose, it needs to be rotated 90 degrees
get some new hoses for it for the couple of bucks it costs from super cheap then the hoses won't pop off anymore
there's also a one way valve type thing which I think is in the wrong place in your system, looks like it's just next to the drivers side squirter instead of being before the T piece

the washer bottle is reasonable size, there's a larger part of it down below that neck... it would hold more than a ta22 washer bottle. I only have to fill mine up once a month or so.. just get another one from a wrecker or even better if possible just the lid from a DIY wrecker, brand new would be financial suicide and parts stores like bursons etc won't have them

um, reverse lights did you check the plug is connected to the reverse light sensor on the gearbox?

edit again... check the grounding on the tail lights

In my experience if the tail light earthing is bad it will affect your indicators etc as well though? Made mine go troppo, wrong things flashing etc

i may need a diagram to know what your talking about?
i duno what the T thing is
and i duno which valve your talking about

in regard to the washer bottle... something strange occuring, i dont think there is an extra bottle underneath in mine, cos as soon as you begin to squirt it begins to go... i figured that at first but when the little bottle is empty there is no mroe water in coming out?

here is an extra picture for you to indicate where things are if possible

    tail lights work good
    rear lights work good
    brake lights dont work
    reverse light dont work
    interior boot light work good

from everything i've been reading up on, sounds to me like somethign from the gearbox hasn't been hooked up properly....

even with pics of what to look for, i still couldn't find the connection for the gearbox

will get roadworthy guy to check it out tomorrow for me.

T piece, connector that looks like a T which splits the pipe into two....

The washer bottle doesn't have another bottle below it, it's all a part of the one thing... are you sure yours doesn't just have a crack in it and is leaking it out?

good point... i'll check for leak in the morning...

water seemed to stay in there when not using the wipers.. perhaps there is a leak when wiper squirter is being used?
