Well, what was the problem?
this has fucking pissed me off now my car has been sabotaged![]()
what it turned out to be the idle screw in the tb had been turned right down as far as it could go, the wires to the fuel vsv had been cut.
i am shocked an appauled that someone would do this, its evident that the idle screw had been moved as they can't move themselves under vibration. it was fine sunday morning when i drove it to work, then started having the prob when i left work sunday arvo.

i was doing a quick bit of work on her sunday and i had to leave it for a minute so i left the engine lid up and some tools on the side for about 30mins while i was working inside. I work at a garage so this is pretty normal sight there, its very strange why these 2 things seem to be all thats done, either it was a freak accident and the idle screw did manage to vibrate itself loose while sitting there, or someone did this, and i think i know who.
but the guys that found it said its bloody tight, there is no way it could have vibrated all the way down.
as for the vsv i have no idea

dude i have never ever heard of a idle screw becomming loose. time for sum pay back or a nice little word to who it may concern.
Glad you found the problem mate and its not too hard to remedy. If you find out who dun it, well it would warrant a little fuel tank sweetener for my liking...
Forgive my ignorance but what are refering to by the fuel VSV?
the vsv that links to the fuel pressure reg.
hmmm it looks like it is a little more than that however, now that she idles well, when warming up the idle doesn't increase at all, and it just wants to stall, so i think there may be an underlying problem with the iscv.

Did your idle normally increase as the car becomes warm (beofre the problem)? I must say i usually experience the opposite...
Maybe just adjust the idle screw a bit more???
yeah the idle did increase until it was warm then it would return to normal. but now she idles lower when warming then becomes normal, for the moment i have disconneted the ISCV and she idles the same all the time as set by the idle screw. i pulled the iscv off and shes not opening when voltage is applied, seems to be seized, so maybe water has leaked into it.

Well....![]()
hey all,
i have trouble starting my ae93 gze, I would just hear this click noise everytime i turn the key to ON (this noise was coming from near the battery fuse box). And trying to turn the key to start it would just generate this click noise thats coming from near the throttle body.
Everytime I try to start the car the interior clock/radio would turn off. the headlights all work so not sure if it is the battery. not sure if it is the immobilizer playing up either.
I tried starting it today and held the key in the ignition for 5 seconds and finally I could hear the cranking noise. At first it refused to turn over, but after giving the throttle a dab or two (its an EFI btw), it finally idled. the idle was at first a bit erratic, but after a while it was fine idling a bit high at 1,300RPM. Upon adjusting the idle control valve with a flathead, if i have it turned all the way to the right (all closed i think?) the car would idle at 1,000RPM. Is this normal?
but yeah, i dont want it to happen again (2nd time car refused to start), so what can i do to solve the problem?
I think this might be a problem with your starter solenoid.
See this thread and follow the directions. Its a cheap thing to do to rule out the starter.

Wiso, when the car dies its it a clean, sudden stop, or does the car splutter and gets slower first? Have you ever noticed your dash lights come on just BEFORE the car dies?
Edit: Oops I see its solved....

Now flogg'n the SC14 @ 18psi....
yeah unfortunatly this is an old problem that you helped me with ages ago
but ever since this it has never fully idled properly, i have just learned to accept a 2000rpm idle until fully warm then drop to 1000. i can't solve it. i have also given up, you get used to it
