Just got back from paying for freight on a car at TNT (now called Ceva Logistics), where I also enquired about car freight prices out of Perth. Current prices were as follows:

    Perth to Adelaide - $300
    Perth to Melbourne - $500
    Perth to Sydney - $740
    Perth to Brisbane - $1050
    Melbourne to Perth - $1109

I also managed to get a considerable discount on my Melbourne to Perth payment by quoting a dealer number, so hopefully thats food for thought ofr some of you?!?

Personally, I'm considering freight to Brisbane, drive to Sydney, Toyfest, then either drive home, or drive to Melbourne and freight home.

Yeah, I am actually toying with the idea of driving down to melbourne after Toyfest, via the snow.

OK, freight and airfares for me will be around $2600 - freight car into Brisbane and fly in to pick it up, then freight car out of Melbourne and fly back also.

    Plus fuel.

    Plus food.

    Plus spending money.

    Plus plus plus!

Airfare into Brisbane and out of Melbourne is just over $500, what you choose to chip in for fuel is up to you, and you'd also need spending money. You could also fly into Sydney directly, if you don't want to do the Brisbane bit, or out of Sydney if you don't want to do the Melbourne bit.

My plan is, fly into Brisbane, sightsee and catch up with both car and non car friends, drive down to Sydney, via an overnight stay in Tamworth at fellow toymodder's house. Toyfest and the shenannigans associated with it including the drags on Wednesday night. Head to Canberra thursday morning, visit the war museum Friday, and head to Bendigo Saturday, then into Melbourne Monday, to fly out Friday night. 23 days total, you can cut days out easily too.
