    Default FIL's Dirty Weekend Cruise

this is a cruise i'm running in late april, hoping to have about 20 cars turn up and stay for most or all of the weekend (i realise it's a 3 day cruise and some people may not be able to make it for the whole 3 days...)

the reason it's 'invite only' is because:
    a) there's alcohol involved and without responsible drivers it could get very messy....
    b) there's some really nice roads and i'd hate anyone to come unstuck
    c) some of these places have some pretty small carparks, i reckon any more than 20 cars and we might have trouble fitting in....

anyway, if anyones interesting in coming along, fire an email off to the address in the picture, give me a few details to make sure i know who you are and i'll put you on the list....

i'm hoping if we get some good numbers in the near future to organise an accomodation deal, but we'll see how that goes...

Now this sounds like one hell of a cruise!

I love the idea. Well done

Awesome idea, I wish my supra was running so i could attend this.. If this is a success, which no doubt it will be and you run it again next year i will be interested for sure.. However short of a miracle, my car will never be ready in time.. Good luck..

yeah.. the last time i did this we had 6 supra's and it worked really well, that was in october last year.... i enjoyed it too much to wait until october to do it again, so i figured i'd try and get it happening twice a year :-)

Vios: it's not exclusive to supra's or even toyotas.... last time i ran it, it was only supras because i only promoted it to the SupraWA guys, but I'm not too fussy about the cars as long as the drivers are responsible enough to not get trashed and keep driving... i love my wine and i love my driving, so i try to plan the stops so that we can enjoy both and stay safe... plus there's the 2 nights in Margaret River to drink wine and talk cars...

OK... cruise is this weekend... we're staying at the Margaret River Lodge, and as of yesterday arvo, they still had about 8 double rooms available for the weekend...

Cruise distance is approx 770km, and I've designed the route so that you can either come down on friday, leaving perth at 10am, or meet us in dunsborough around 10:30am on saturday....

Cheers... I plan on running another one just before the start of the new drag season (in other words, late september / early october)

At the moment it's looking like only 2 cars, but thats ok, we'll still have fun and hopefully some more people will join in next year....

Cheers.... Going on how it went last time, this one should rock... I'm strongly considering riding shotgun in the gf's 32 GTS-T instead of driving the jza70.. It'll give me a chance to sample more wines (though i still beleive you should be sober enough to drive in order to pick the taste properly) and i'll be able to drive the new gps setup i'm using for this cruise... .it's the first time i've written a cruise map with gps navigation software, and it has been so easy to write, i just hope the driving is just as good...

The next Dirty Weekend will be just before the new drag season starts, as i've mentioned above, this also is about the same time most wineries release their new wines (there's usually a few varieties that lag behind a few weeks / months depending on the particular wine)

I'll try to pick a date as soon as the new seasons calendar comes out for the drags and will post it up on LandBarge.com as soon as i pick a date and then will hit up the other forums shortly after.... And again I'll be aiming for about 15 cars...

Well, we're back from Margaret River and have had a great time, the bank balance has suffered pretty bad though, we managed to spend over a grand in 3 days, but that goes with the territory I guess, almost all of that went on wine. Both k8 and myself had a great time and are looking forward to going back, probably around September / October.

The only downside to the weekend was the poor turnout, I was really hoping to get a few more people along than we did, but you get that. We ended up going to 2 breweries (Cowaramup and Bootleg), the 2 cheese factories (Margaret River and Fonti Farms, who stock a lot of the same stuff, but Fonti Farms has Metricup Gold), the Margaret River chocolate factory and fudge factory, the candy factory (Candy Cow) in Cowaramup, Yalingup Beach and 16 wineries. And we also found time Saturday afternoon to duck in to Simmo's Ice Creamery in Dunsborough for an ice cream.

Off the top of my head, the wineries we visited were:
    Maiolo
    Beckett's Flat
    Treeton Estate
    Rosa Brook Estate
    Brown Hill
    The Berry Farm
    Serventy Wines
    Redgate
    Xanadu
    Howling Wolves
    Palandri
    Vasse Felix
    Willespie
    Sandalford
    Happs
    Swings and Roundabouts

I came home with 33 bottles of wine, 2 blocks of cheese some jam and some wine glasses. And a whole heap of photos.

I've picked out a few photos and put them up here:

    Thanks Spindevil,
Next one looks like it'll be either the weekend of the 8th and 9th of September or the 22nd and 23rd of September....

As usual, I'll try to design the route so that there is a 2 day and a 3 day version for people who want to come down on Friday morning, as well as those who want to come down Saturday morning....

The cruise is open to all types of cars, I care a lot more about getting responsible drivers than I do about getting any one make / model of cars or getting show quality cars along...
