Default engine oil press and trans temp gauge sender fitment

i just got an elec oil pressure gauge and an elec trens temp gauge, i need to know how ppl have hooked them up to their 1j's
i also have a trans cooler so i will need to lengthen the lines so is there a way i can mount it inline

wheres the stock engine oil pressure sender, can i just replace it with mine, or will the light in the dash stay on

For oil pressure sensor, apparently you can use the union bolt from a gs300 (about $60 I got quoted) or you can tap the fitting. You leave the stock one there and tap the thing next to it from memory. (Do a search though, www.mkiv.com has a writeup I think). It is located on the passenger side on top of the sump from memory.

Trans cooler: What I did was used the stock metal lines and instead of going into the radiator I just connected the oil hose from there and took it to the trans cooler. You can run it through the radiator if you want as it will heat the oil quicker. For my car I didn't need this but for a street car I probably would. (depends on how high a converter you go also. 2800rpm is not "huge" so it should be fine going through the rad). You could fit your sender in the line if you want with a t-piece fitting if you can get one.

I got mine tapped into the pan itself on the front passenger side. From memory that is the hottest part as it goes from there through the lines to the cooler.

AFAIK it is actually oil level not pressure. I think it just goes to the light. Depending on how it is wired will determine if it stays on or off. If it stays on then just chop the wire to the light in the dash

on my old celica, i just got a brass tee piece and tee'd it in with the stock oil pressure sensor.

Or get one of those filter sandwich plates?

You could do a similar type setup on the trans temp, with an inline brass fitting?

went to pirtek, got a 1/2 inch t piece, had to get some barbed fittings too, did the same with a 3/8 one, luckily the autometer gauges come with a few differnt fittings, cost me $50 all up, might need some spare hose tho

not much room to fit an oil press sender on a 1j

i have done it years ago

uses a 45 degree adapter with correct fittings to goto the block and sender

then u have to aim the new bigger sender towards the rear of block and abit down

    this should clear most brackets

if the engine is in the car then its a pain in the ass job

remove a/c compressor and all brakcets so u can get under and seee
