so how exactly is anybody going to tell you how their muffler recommendations are going to sound on YOUR setup?

BTW for what its worth, having an automatic already puts you on the back foot as far as resonance goes, seems the stall point of the converter coincides with the worst point of resonance

1JZs seem to be notorius for resonance. The only solution seams to be the biggest barrel muffler you can find/fit. I have a massive barrel muffler and no drone or resonance but a Lux has the space for it.

The sound of the exhaust is a personal thing you'll have to find on your own I think. I personally hate cannons.

Does anyone have any sound (bad pun) theory on muffler placement... i.e. at end of exhaust piping versus say halfway along? And the same for hotdog resonators?

From personal experience I recommend the Roadrunner mufflers for sure. BigWorm's And Placenta Bitch's cars are quite reasonable to say the least, and legal as is, which is a massive challenge for most people with big bore exhausts. I reckon I'll be ordering a muffler for my new car too eventually

you already have 3, 2 on the lexus (S/S=tinny) and the Roadrunner BMF on the MegaPoo.

BTM, whilst i would like to take credit for Bigworms (actually no i wouldn't) i only did Jesse's car, and yes for a 3.5" exhaust it is quiet (2 RRF BMF's)

Oh ok......we always used to joke about how quiet Jesse's car was. Nover the less, I'll place an order eventually (other priorities atm)

Finally i've found a 3" straight through muffler that actually works and isn't the size of a 2-seater couch!

After getting sidelined at the skidpan for noise, I recommenced my search for a muffler that actually works to somewhat eliminate the dreaded 1JZ drone... that horrid point at 2300-2700rpm where it just resonates something chronic both inside & outside the car. Previously tried 3 different muffler/resonator combos, each with very limited success (if any), but a local exhaust shop recommended and supplied a Genie muffler that he uses to shut rotaries up..... and its a success!

Best part is that its compact... 14" long, 9.5" wide, and only 4" high. Center entry, with only a slight dogleg for offset exit, really nice transitions, no restriction, and its all welded, no pressed sections. Whatever they pack it with must be in there pretty solid too, cause the weight for its size is considerably more than its competitors.

So now running the previous 5" resonator plus this muffler, its extremely suburb-friendly, just a nice purr.

Unfortunately though, it doesn't have that wicked sound from before on full noise Time for a screamer pipe perhaps? haha

    Hi,

To keep up the flow and reduce the noise what about Having a 3 inch pipe branch into 2 pipes, each pipe having it's own muffler, then branching back into one pipe that continues onto the rear muffler.
