hey andyroo i think your right about the fuel pump it does seem to be close to that area, what was wrong in your fuel pump, did you have to replace it or was it a hose or where it bolted onto the motor... also i have taken the celica down weir rd (mundaring weir in wa[really twisty]) and i think it really needs some new shocks and either stiffer springs or sway bars, and the brakes seem pretty good even after heavy braking

o man ra23 i wouldnt mind doing the 22r-e mainly because it would be so emensly cheap and a lot of fun getting the most out of an underdog motor (ive always had serious mental issues) and hey if i dont like it then 1g it is (when i can afford to)

    thanks every one

    Hey,

I just replaced the pump, it was facartured, but was revlativly cheap for new one. The suspension in our cars after 25 years is very worn, and suffer from severe body roll, have a look at this pic,

this was going only maybe 40 ks! You tend not to notice it as much inside the car, and I believe the stock ride height is way too high, i think they raised the aus versions for some reason. Just put some king springs in, the improvement should be great. Why not an
18R-G? They are twin cam 4 cylinders, much better than either 21 or 22. I think be an easy conversion too.

well basically i was just going to replace the motor because this 21 is really craptacular and i cant find the oil leak (i had a really hard look at the fuel pump and i cant see how it would be leaking but i will replace it anyway just to be safe) if the 18r-g is easy and cheap then it sounds like an interesting option for a bit of fun.

the body roll does feel pretty bad and i agree on it being too high, feels like it looses a lot of stability for that reason.

the gasket around the fuel pump is possibly leaking? (there is a spacer for it, which equals two fuel pump gaskets.)

iv had a situation where the o-ring around the dizzy had shrunk/gone hard... so i got a good leak from there.

18RG isnt such an easy bolt in. For starters the front sumps are VERY hard to find. Also they tend to be A) difficult to tune and B) heavy on the juice (lets face it, anyone puttin an 18RG in isnt gonna go light on the right foot)

With this in mind, its not always a practical option for a daily driver. Im not dissin the 18RG, I love em, but there are applications where they are great, and applications where they arent the best choice.

You need to know exactly what you want the car to do, how much fuel you want it to use, how much you wanna spend on the changeover, and how much you wanna play around with tuning before you make a decision.
