The first part number is from a 9/88 - 8/89 Crown
Second part number ranged from 8/88 - 08/90 MarkII , Chaser , Cresta
.
Q; dose anyone know, the part number's, for the 1G-GZE ECU's, all gen's, as i'm having trouble finding one for my motor..![]()
The one i have is from an auto, & i need it for a manual...
i think it is Gen 2auto.
part # 89661-30330

You can usually use the Auto Ecu`s in the Manual but obviously not the other way around

Need to know the number's of all ECU's, gen ?, manual & auto, as i have an import guy looking for me in Japan...![]()
Nice to know that the ECU, that i got with motor, was from a Crown.. But what Gen. is it![]()
It's been said that Auto ECU, will run a manual !! But howdose it get wired
![]()
As stated.. i have two motors 1: manual No ECU, & 1: auto with ECU.
Both have differant conectors, at the end of loom..so the auto ECU will not plug & play, with the manual loom

All 1GGZE's were AUTO's. Some importers sell the engines with 1GGE or 1GGTE flywheels and say they are manuals but they are not. Also, an auto ecu will quite happily run with a manual box although some need a speed sensor connected else it may do odd things (not common though). If you see someone experienced in wiring they can do it without a problem. There were a number of versions of 1GGZE's made and depending on what car it came from it will have different plugs. There are at least 3 different plug configurations that I have come across over the years. I would suggest simply swapping over the flywheel from the one without an ecu to the one with the ecu.
That's what I was led to believe too. These engines generally come from large family saloons in Japan, like the Crown and hence are automatics. The only manual I've ever seen on a 1G was a 1GGTE at SSS Automotive.Originally Posted by Grant
We have jumpered some wires that were originally connected to the auto box to negate the speed sensor.Originally Posted by Grant
That's it. And away you go. Forget looking for a manual 1GGZE. Your search will be like my pockets - EMPTY.Originally Posted by Grant

OMG - Winner of the Official "Forum Comment of the Week"!
The 1st,1G-GZE i got came with a fly wheel.& loom dosen't have plugs for the ECT, as on the 2nd, with Auto loom..

Looking at rebuilding one of the motors, so sill looking at best options.
i have a W57, on a 1G-EU, so no prob's with that..![]()
i have done a few engine swops ( 1JZ-GTE to MA70, 3T-GTE to TA22, & rewire's) building cars 27 y now..![]()
Electrican/tec. by trade, so can do wire's..![]()

Is this true...
If so then i have a Gen 3 motor, gray plugs
the first motor i have has yellow plugs..

The whole "generation" thing is a bit of a misnomer. The 1GGZE was released in 1984 with coil packs ate the very back of the rocker covers, a simple step type TPS and simple batch fired injection. In 1987/1988 the GZE was then released with coil-on-plug coils which sat in the valley of the head (as opposed to across the back). It also had a modern 4 wire TPS and refined injection. Boost on both was the same at 9/10 psi. this ran to about 1990/91 when it was phased out in favor of the newer 1J/2J engines.
I have seen 3 types of ecu's. the early GZE had a yellow plug ecu with a pin configuration of 10/18/24. The later GZE's had a grey plug ecu and a yellow plug ecu both having pins config of 26/16/22. The grey and the yellow will not interchange. I do not know what the difference is as I never had the time to trace the wires from the yellow plug ecu's. They are not coded on the circuit board either which makes things rather difficult. I have been told by a guy who imported Toyota's that the yellow plug ecu's use an external auto computer whereas the grey ecu's has the auto inbuilt.
If you email me I can send you all the diagrams and notes I have. These are what I have built up over the years of wiring so you're welcome to them if it will help you sort your engine.
Just sent email to Grant.

take afew photos of the ecu plugs and i might be able to sort out what ecu u need
if sss have an engine with matching 1ggze loom maybe they will have a matching ecu then i can see if they have a spare ecu and buy it
I now have the Gen 2 & 3 wiring diagrams both have gray plugs..
Still looking for Gen 1, Yellow plug, wiring diagrams..from GX121..?
The Gray plug motor i have has external ECT...from GX131, is this Gen 2..?
