I've done what your asking about without a thermostat but my engine runs hotter then most cause of the tiny bay its in. My oil temp now ranges from 100 to 120 deg celcius (or higher if I give it a long boot full).
Petrol is for washing parts, alcohol's for drinking but NITRO IS FOR RACING!

Thermostat is designed so that oil bypasses cooler and goes straight to motor until a certain temperature is reached them oil is directed through cooler before returning to motor.
I have never seen one but I guess they are just a ' T ' piece and would require a bit more plumbing.

Not particularly critical, im just curious as to why its a 4 port one rather than a 2 port. The only 4port ones ive seen have been with an integral thermostat.

bit of a long story ,came in a kit i bought of ebay cause i needed the adaptor that goes on the block to have ports coming out the side ( had space issues with the engine mount )
    [IMG][/IMG]
but that ended up being just a bit too big and wouldn't have sealed on the block , thats when i went motorsport connections and they sorted me out

few guys I know are running rotary oil coolers on their engines. large size, requires some playing around with fittings etc, but they're cheap.
Im not allowed to advertise in my sig, so see the classifieds.

Mazda 1300... Rotary powered because no one would make me some 4AGE engine mounts!
