    Default Carbbed 1UZ?

    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has carbbed a 1uz? Or even if it is possible?

Not knowing much about the 1UZ, I'm not sure if it could be dumbed down or if it relies too much on the computer. I realise anything is possible and I'd need a custom intake but baring that? Does it run a mechanical dizzy ect?

Thinking a light V8 in a light old skool shell, rodded And I'd preffer to go carbbed for the rat rod I'm thinking of.

    Thoughts?

If you're after a single carb setup I don't think you'll have much luck, but you never know what might be available since these engines are becoming popular with rodders. Quite a few people have done ITB setups on 1UZ's though so you could probably adapt something like that for multiple carbs, especially if they use a Weber pattern for the throttles.

As for ignition there's no mechanical or vacuum advance so your best bet would be to get an ignition-only ECU to run that side of things. I think Haltech does one?

Very common in speedway (stockcar class) here in NZ so there are single carb manifolds available for them as injection is not allowed.

    mallory ignition
with the right manifold i dont see why a single carb wont work
however i think ITB's or efi is the way to make more power. but you just want it to sound cool dont you

They are also designed to hit with a weight between 1400 and 1500kg. You need to watch some teams racings, very impressive hits going on.

recon you could carb it .. but if you want it on the road legally .. good luck passing emissions.

although on that i know a few carbed 4age's that are on the road .. and i assume legally ?

I was actualy thinking of a pair of 4-barrels and a bug catcha

I'll have a quick look into the ignition computer. But I guess legality is the other issue... then theres finding a manual tranny to back it up and adaptor to suit... might be easier to stick with domestic on this one
