its about retro fitting carb(s) for a hot rod style.

EFI in a hot rod......im not sure if they go together.

its like putting a 302 in a MA61..... errr wait, someones already done that

ok, so 450hp.... Hows that translate into rwkw? what particular carby is the right one? and what supporting mods have been used?

How about some carbs for the look gutted and only for the throttle plates, and keep the injection and electronic spark.
Just anodise the fuel rails blue and says it's NOS

    Everybody happy!

from what i have heard the stock efi is tuned to be efficient. A decent efi setup would win hands down over any carby. Why don't you put a decent efi setup on but disguide it to look like a carby. you could put the injectors and fuel rail under the manifold to hide them or something

Google tells me 450hp is 335.5 kW

but that i'd expect to be at the flywheel, and even that, 450 is pretty general, could well be an estimation.

If you want hot looking efi, itb's with big trumpets win hands down. Most idiots wont be able to tell the difference

EDIT: 335kw at the fly would be a quite impressive.. but with stock cams, pull the other one.

too be honest i would be surprised if that number wasn't exaggerated, and if it wasn't it would have many other mods. but i do think a big carby vs a completely stock efi motor would make slightly more power but at a huge cost to efficiency. and the same money spent on the efi would make more still. but i'm certainly no expert on these engines, just some grapevine style info. but it has been done so there must be info around somewhere

450hp will be from carby, new intake manifold (one that flows), big cams, and a head port (a long with extractors etc)

They get 550hp from $60,000 1UZ race motors for speedway, from talking to a few racers you either go all out or leave it standard as there isn't a reliable mid point for the 1UZ. They run carbs due to class rules, not sure what they use for ignition.

What would those $60,000 race engines rev to? Would be sweet to have a 10,000rpm v8 engine in my 28 , would be sweeter having the 60g's lying around to pay for it

Not sure on the rev limit, not massively high though (7,500 -8,000rpm probably) as they are built for lots of low down torque to get out of the corners quick.
