Ideally you should maybe do some research yourself and i'd probably start by reading Garretts turbocharger 103 guide on their site HERE and then once you've got an understanding of how compressor maps work then look at the compressor map for your turbo and compare that with your engine.

Most turbos also have a HP/KW rating for help in diagnosing what is a suitable turbo for your engine.

Also search toymods cause there was a bit of discussion on compressor maps fairly recently which also talked about relating them to your engine.

Ps. youve said GT28R but there are 10 turbos in this range to choose from all of which will be different on the same engine. By getting an understanding of how the maps work you should be able to get an idea of specifically which GT28R will be best suited for your engine.

Also think about what size turbos are used on standard 2L applications and their spoolup and supported hp figures. Maybe look at what turbos suit 180sx/200sx's, wrx's, and audis and stuff. Also look at what turbos in the Garrett range people upgrade to.

    All the best

woh $1100 sounds alot for a turbo on a 18rg. If i had of kept that engine i was think a ct26 or t28bb when i was planned to turbo it . Are you going to be doing anything to the head or bottom end?

GT2876R.... that's what i'll be using, with the larger 0.82a/r rear housing.

Probably should have a good read of the compressor map threads too

Mate your a little off track, I suggest using something along the lines of a switzer, or a holset - plus if you wanna make power, i`d suggest going diesel...if you do the maths...

BIG BOOST (anywhere from 45 - 70 psi)
Really high compression (again, somewhere between 13:1 up to 25:1) - this will vary between motors.
LOW REVS!!!! - this will stop your motor being destroyed while making large power outputs - a plus with diesels is you can swap the sparkies out for glow plugs..

you must understand that the torque produced by this kind of setup will literally tear the diff out of your car so it must be used with caution... but best of luck anyway...

get a 2nd hand disco potato if you can find one, great turbo for 2L engines. failing that, a second hand S15 turbo would probably also be good.

I'm curious about what else you're doing to warrant spending over $1k on a turbo for an 18r.. perhaps consider that before spending

yeah, the disco potato is also called the GT28 RS (iirc), but it's slightly older than the recent gen of turbos, so should (in theory) be a bit cheaper.

cheers. just bought this one. comes with 1 year warranty. this is a ball bearing garett replacement for an S15 he has assured me. this should make the magical 200rwkw im looking for. ita also ceramic coated

when he had it working on his motor it was spooling up at around 2400rpm. to quick for his licking as he was always on boost. so hes gone with a larger unit.

if you paid over $700 for asecond hand BBT28 off and S15 you got ripped off, as they come up for sale on NissanSilvia.com all the time, eg here. Garrett code GT2560)

It's basically a T3 60Trim with a BB centre. Not to say they are a bad turbo, infact they are very good and will mke 200rwKw (but not a whole lot more safely)

    Cheers

P.S: for more info on turo-engine sizing do a search for "how to read compressor maps" there you'll find some good info + a link to a spreedsheet I'm working on
