    Default R33 brake conversion

    Can someone point me in the right direction on the R33 skyline brake conversion for celica. is there already a thred on this. or should i start a new one. is it fairly straight forward like the corona pug hilux conversion?

    otherwise hen's recent thread using s13/14 stuff (which you change the caliper and rotors to r33 stuff)

    if you can work out how to put the ra60 strut without the positive camber issues into an older model celica, then that should work also.

    By my calculations (guesswork), camber will be approx unchanged if you use RA60 struts and Sigma lower control arms.

    Or as barned says, R33 brakes will bolt to S13/14 hubs (need to redrill disc for S13 gear).

    wouldn't that throw out other measuremnts as the control arms are now longer than the steering arms or whatever they are called, or can they be adjusted to accomodate for the longer control arm?

    Use RA40 tie rod tubes and tie rod ball joints. This allows adjustment to the correct length.

    Ignore R33 struts if this application is your IPRA car. At anything under 280mm discs the mounting lugs foul on the hub. 273mm is the realistic limit for running 14"s and hence 60 series.
    R32 is a possibility, but Mazda RX7 is far better.

    Yeah its for the ipra car. its not the calipers that are my concern its more the quality of the rotors, DBA rotors are very soft and with hawk black pads they dont last to long and from what i have seen from being involved with saloon car racing is that they only last 1 meeting. Sure i know there is a big weight difference but there is also a big power difference. i also run 15" wheels.

    Same goes for 15" wheels, look at the R32 gear for anything under 16" as on a Toyota designed MacPherson strut you wont be able to fit a caliper adaptor inbetween the strut and the caliper.
    R32 is the same as the R33 anyway but just a different casting (theoretically the R32 gear bleeds heat better due to higher surface area). They have the same size pistons and pads.

    FWIW the DBA rotor hardness depends on the model of rotor. DBA dont exclusively produce, for example the "DBA" rotors which i use in the race car are actually from Brembo and come in Brembo boxes despite having DBA272 on the reciept and being shipped from DBA. As such the rotors used on that specific saloon car may be of a softer metal than rotors used on another car.
    I know the DBA272s i use have held up to 2 race meets and several practice days with either RB74s DS2500s or Bendix Ultimates in them.

    Yep points noted and i do have the brembo rotors, but there is no way i would run ultimates etc and i have like double the power of your 86 and bendix pads will melt rather quickly with over 300hp. and when you start dipping into anything under 1:19.00 things start to get hot. And when you look at he setup on shauns car its far from a corona pug hilux upgrade. he runs s4 calipers hawk blacks and willood rotors.

    Ultimates were run when it was a road car, its now running DS2500s with no adverse effects.

    Hen is correct ra60 strut bolted to sigma lca with ra40 tie rod ends gives almost no camber
    ive got a mate running them on his car
