    Default G-series Disk brakes (searched)

Im up to the stage where the diff upgrade is happening. Im in the process of making a jig to swap over the mounts. I havent yet solved the problem of installing disk brakes. They have to remain 4 stud as well. I have searched but have yet to come across much except a bit on the caliper brackets I think gianttomato? got made. However that doesnt really help as I need to stay 4 stud. I was thinking about using the RT142 Avante disk setup (same as commodore) I already have but it looks like the bearing retainer is just too big! I have also read something about using R31 skyline gear but nothing too concrete.

to remain four stud you'll have to change the stud pattern via cutting and welding, you could do it yourself on a lathe or a shop will do it quite cheap. as for brakes its a pretty easy conversion from what ive read, you can go with either mz20, gz20, ma70 rear callipers i think:

here is one of the links im struggling to find where i saved the others:

1st one is courtesy of gianttomato, also pm him for a bracket he's having a batch made up now:

anyways yeah im going a set from cvap

    hope that has helped

I was under the impression using the ma70 gear was to suit 5 stud but Icould be wrong. I am getting the axles welded and drilled to suit 4 stud. Whats the go with the gear from cvap?

nah, someones been pissing in your ear. all you need is the hand brake cable, hub carrier, discs and callipers, an ma70 has a g series diff in irs form, all you need to do is some minor fabrication of the carrier mount (i think it involves a bit of grinding to get it around the diff housing and then a washer to stop it from fouling) or just order one made from gianttomato for $50, pull the drums off and mount carrier on, change stud pattern on the end of the original axle, rebuild internal drum brake and callipers and your basically home and hosed

cvap has all the bits mention above for about $220, ive been meaning to get around to it but im saving for hopper stoppers on the front

Im aware of Rod and I think Big T said he also uses r31 gear. Ive seen the pic of Rods '22 but I couldnt see enough detail. ma70 etc uses the same rearend as an mx83?

This is my G series with MA70 brakes. The hardest part will be mounting the backing plate to the housing.
4 stud just involves drilling the disks and the axels.

Im not too keen on redrilling the disks to 4 stud as you end up with I think 2 of the 4 holes overlapping and you get a nasty elongated hole. Not too sure what an engineer would think either.

If thats the case you're not doing it right. If you cant figure out how to redrill the disks, just buy some blanks.

Hmm...can you get MA70 blanks from DBA/RDA now? Last I checked you couldn't.
