Have you tried going directly to Toyota?

Yeah went down to the local dealier and he said no "not any more".
Take the shoes to a specialist brake place and get them relined.
Yeah that is always an option. Much easier to get off the shelf items if I can.Originally Posted by gianttomato

Not really,
all our drum brake shoes are relined we have a next business day turn around and there is no negative sideaffects,
Reason for not buying new ones is:
1. no difference
2. try finding drum brake shoes for a 67 or 60 or 71 mustang all 3 of our mustangs have different rear diffs
3. less time taken to get them relined than parts ordered in.
4. can get specific material bonded and get it double bonded so the material will never tear off
hopefully not dumb question: how did you manage to wear them out given that they're only ever used when you use the handbrake?
It's beginning to look like your best option. You seem to be unable to procure off the shelf items. You have disassemble the rear anyway - so you're carless for a day but then you know you have the right items. Typically most good places will have a one day turn around.Originally Posted by ra_28
Tried some import wreckers? The bigger ones often just sell the rotors off the rear assemblies leaving all the goodies underneath (MZ20 and possibly MX83 will be the same - could also look at xZ30 Soarers - all have 190mm internal drum handbrake).
How you've managed to wear out a set of handbrake drums has got me well fucked, unless you're some sort of dorifto wannabe.
Dorifto wannabeI don't think so, I like my tyres. The reason I want new shoes is because i purchased the setup for the hilux brake change and the setup was in poor condition so some of the pads have come away from there backing plate no there no rusted just the glue has let go. I would have used them other wise.
There is always the problem of working 5 days a week and saturday mornings so which leaves not much time to getting around to doing my own things while other business are open. Most of the time I've got my dad runnning around collecting parts for me, but if it comes down to him been the one to do my dirty work again so be it.
