    Default 1JZ in RT142 Corona

Just wondering if anyone can help..

Got a 1J for free with auto gearbox the other day, only done 80000km apparently. Doesnt have a loom though.. If i got a loom sorted would i be able to bolt it up to my w55 i think i have in my car (what ever is stock)? Thinkin its gonna be harder than just bolt up but can it be done? Also any ideas on how much a loom would cost and where to get one.

    Thanks...

You'll need a 2JZ-GE bellhousing, flywheel and clutch to make it bolt up to your W55.

I hope you're budgetting for a new rear end (the T series will snap in a second), not to mention majorly upgraded brakes and suspension if you want to survive the first week?

talk to an import shop about looms and ECU's (maybe one of the sponsors of the forum like CVAP) - otherwise factor in $2-3k for aftermarket ECU, wiring and general hooking up issues ... oh and a tune.

btw, if you do this, please provide pics of the kamakazi diff.

My bad, I saw RT104 for some reason.

Well if it's live axle it has a Borg-Warner which is almost as bad!

Sweet, thanks for all the quick replies.

How much am i looking at for the bell housing you recon? Find one at a recker? Yea its the IRS model so i have a limo diff out of a ma61 for it. As for brakes and suspension im getting s13 coil overs and brakes with ma61 rear brakes. Should do the job alright.. already got low king springs in the back, probably just get some monro GT shocks in the rear.. Anything else i should think about?

    Thanks...

2.7ma61 is the last person i would have would correct him.

I dont think there is a massive diference between ma61 and ur current brakes

yeah they are just a bit thicker and vented i think. A mate did it and said it made a fair difference. I dont know of any other rear brake up grade with out buying new stuff. Will be sweet when its done... By the way, does anyone know what the auto box is worth? No idea what it is..

std 1j loom can be around 200
std 1j ecu can be around 250 cause they are hard to get
there is also afew different types of looms and ecus

so make sure you get a matching set

i have 2 types of ecus here but not sure how good they are

one has a faulty injector driver but can prob be easily fixed

Its going to be a very tight fit! When using a 1GGTE mounted with the gearbox in the standard location, there is sweet bugger all room between the radiator and the crank pulley. The 1JZ is longer than a 1G so I think the only way it will work would be to move the engine rearwards meaning there would be some changes to the gearbox crossmember and shifter location. Otherwise you would have to do something creative with the radiator.

hmm thats a good point... Ill have a look at what i can do wirh the radiator otherwise fuck it. better off going 1G..
Sounds good with the ECUs anything wrong with the other one? is it easy to match the different types?
Anyone out there know much about engine mounts? how did you go with 1G mounts Pube? Im handy with the welder so making my own might be possible but id prefer a simpler option if there is one..

Are there anyother problems, hold ups i might come across before i start buying parts

    Thanks..

RT142 Diffs are the same as MA61 for reference.

Someone on the forums has done a 1JZ into RA65, same car, search for it and ask him.

A 1J would be nice but a 1G is easier. I used the 22re mounts and modified them to suit. I modified the mounts on the engine by cutting the old flanges off them and welding them to a plate with holes drilled to suit the 1G block. I then cut the mounts off the crossmember and then trimmed them to suit the height and loation required. Then the mounts were fully welded to the engine crossmember.
