    Default RT142 Corona VS SA63

Picked up an RT142 corona today for the motor that's in it, but while I'm stripping it, what parts are of use to me? I noticed the IRS is very similar to the SA63, does it have a stronger diff/better brakes...etc? Anything else worth ratting? And...is the steering rack the same! (Important )

    Cheers, RM.

Not sure on Oz spec, but my jap spec 3T-GTE TA63 and a 3T-GTE powered TT142 shared the same front suspensions. I never pulled the diff out, but the setups looked identical.

Ok, so the IRS in the rona will have a better: read stronger rear diff (it is IRS, similar design to the SA, if not the same.)

And the steering rack *should* be the same...

    All winners so far!

    Time for sleep...

Deff f series and if its manual it has a w 57 in it and a 3.55 ratio diff , good for cruising at low revs.
Rack looks the same but i havnt interchanged them

you might even want to check if it is possible to swap the whole xmembers to avoid mounting issues (if there are any)

im 95% sure the RT142s are identical to xA6x celica xmembers.

you might want to compare to see if the whole IRS cradle is the same. there is a very good chance it is. F series and disk brake rear end is the go!

the IRS parts will be useful for an MA61 owner wanting to update the rear end to 5-stud but can't afford the down-time to have their car off the road.

This is what wilbo did - get a 2nd pair of swing arms and hubs ready.

    cheers,
    Charles.

Good stuff guys, but here's another question: Is the flywheel assembly the same on the 22R as the 21R? The corona's an Auto, and we'll be bolting it to the manual RA60...

OK yes 3.58 , when i talk about them i just call it the tall diff , Yes the flywheel from the 21r will bolt bolt to the 22r , just remember to put a spigot bearing in the crank when you go from auto to man
