    Default odd Aircon question.

I'm fitting aircon to my RA28 as a part of the conversion. Now to save on space I'm using a honda civic condenser (possibly the smallest one available anywhere) but even with its small size I'm not sure where to fit it without it causing dramas with the radiatior and intercooler.

How have other people mounted them? any problems fitting them in between a front mount?

Can I put the condenser closer to the ground in a similar way to a GA70's cooler is mounted? Ie, is it vital to have GOOD flow through the condenser if it has its own fan which switches on with the aircon clutch?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nick.

im interested to see where you mount the condensor also.

im in a similar boat with a 1g convo + intercooler.

Im running 1G compressor / std 28 Dryer .... but the rest is undecided yet due to fitment.

how small is this honda gear?!

and whats with you and the honda gear? special at hondasRus ???

what model civic is it from? If its small and from an old civic(r12 system) then good luck getting the a/c to work. If you must go small the you will need a modern multiflow high performance condensor.

Airflow through the condenser is critical or the system will struggle to cool or continually trip out on the pressure switch.

    This man speaks the truth.
The condensor is to your A/C system what the radiator is to your engines cooling system.
All heat removed from the cabin by the A/C plus heat from the compressor and engine bay heat absorbed through the A/C piping must be dissipated by the condensor. If this doesn't happen (due to a condensor that is too small/ inefficient) the A/C will not work properly.

Just something for you to think about.

I spoke to an A/C guy about it and his thoughts were that because the EG civic is the same size (if not larger) than the 1st gens it shouldnt be a problem. I never had any dramas with my aircon on my civic and ran it hard all the time on auto climate.

The condensor is from an EG-X ('91-'95) model civic, its roughly 16-18" x17-19"

the heat transfer box is a part of my mazda 323 climate system, which is also in the same size range. If the civic condensor can't take it, there is still room for larger units, if it sits between the cooler and the radiator.

I guess the only way to tell is to see how much room I have with the 1G mounted up.

    lol on the Ex-Honda boy

i figured that of the condensor --- similar size cars similar usability.

    will watch this closely.
