Hi i just started trying to replace the front disc brake pads in my ke25, (1st step in trying to make my car roadworthy). And are there any hints to loosen the bolts on my calipers?

a sharp tap on the end of breaker bar with a hammer also helps, just be careful you don't knock the car off the jack/stands

get the stick that you use on the jack, that is very useful cos it fits over most spanners and a 3/8 ratchet
Cheap ratchet + heavy hammer...
All else fails, have car on jack stands, place spanner/ratchet on bolt pointing just below horizontal, then use the jack to try to apply full weight of car to the end of the ratchet. Use a good socket (to avoid slips off bolt) and a cheap ratchet just in case... I haven't seen a nut not let go before the car lifts off the stands...

mm thanks lads, yay to home mechanics.
If you can get a product called Yield and spray that; we used to call it WD 4000, because it is 100 times better than WD40.
Double D Eucalyptus oil is also a fantastic penetrant.
YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
seconded on the yield!Originally Posted by YelloRolla
it can be hard to get hold of though, you can't normally get it from your hardware store, you might have to scam a can from a machine shop.

Probly not a home mechanics product but
Wurth Rost-Off ICE is unreal for that sort of thing
