Just attach a longer hose to the radiator drain. Then you can use any container you wish as long as it sits lower than your radiatior it still should drain. Make sure the container is clean, large enough and has a lid, like a an old coolant bottle!

Saves going to the shops and buying a new container if you are that lazy!

EL/AU fans are about 90mm thick.

The flexalite ones are much thinner though, but about 3 times the cost.

Do you have room in front of the radiator to install pusher fans? I did this on my MA70 to make more room for the turbo.

Theres room width wise, but the bonnet catch mechasnim gets in the way a little, it could be done and is an option but both the current fans don't fit on the front .

You can mount one on the back and one on the front but its a major PINA because they are wired through the same cricuit meaning one fan is spinning the wrong way , which just happens to be the large one thats the most important.

Cruzida I very much doubt I have 90mm of room to play with

I have a 16" thermo bought from PWR. Its way slimmer than a davies craig thermo. I will measure it up for you tomorrow when I get home.

Thanks Pube, they are the SPAL ones aren't they.

Got out the measuring stick to tightest point ie where the crank shaft pulley slips onto we have an amazing 70mm of room .

The problem its a chunky biatch.

Well I've been shoppign well trying to anyway today and repco were useless twats, so called dealers for PWR products. Ask the guy do you guys have any SPAL thermo fans, he goes we only davies Craig ones, I say your stand over there begs to differ.

They didn't have a catalogue for them meh walked out.

Supercheap spoke to the manager who was really helpful but someone had flogged their Davies Craig catalogue hmmm, he said I could or he could ring PWR tomorrow though get the dimensions and then he'd order them if they'd fit.

Then went to autobarn of all places who had the catalogue and was willing to photocopy it for me and add the prices yay.

ATM the DCSL12 looks like a contender at 51mm thick, Big Worm's fans come in at 65mm thick so they leave a measly 5mm of clearance which is not a lot of room lol.

and not legal - most engineers won't clear a thermo unless it has at least 10mm clearance (so my previous engineer told me)

its probly been said or cant be possible, put the fans on the outside of the radiator and switch the positive and negative wires, so you dont suck hot air back through the radiator.

not possible with the way the current fans are setup, since I'm going to need new fans anyway I may as well just get slimline ones and mount them up as a puller style setup as it requires the least amount of fiddling with the wiring
