IM using the Greddy Profec B spec 2. I like it. Easy to use and holds boost really well. And brings it on nice and solid!

    what about the profec E-01?

is it a fancy visual version of the other profec models!?

Same solenoid as the B-spec and S spec AFAIK, so the holding power and capacity is the same, the setup is more lengthy obviously. (setup screens can be seen http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/pho...ts/index1.html )

The real plus of the profec e-01 is the data logging/tuning ability with the emanage.

I initially thought PID might not be fast enough for this, but according to wiki (vhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boost_controller) it is used.

+rep PID systems rock, I have one I made myself to maintain the temperature of my homebrew, keeps it to within +- 0.5 degrees

speaking about PID i remembered i sold a automated preasure relief valve for the use of the oil refinary at my place here and the settings gave me lots of headaches..

back to topic--->> previously i had the HKS EVC and i was running boost at 20psi (normal) and sometimes up to 25psi when i got my self "spirited" . however the problem i hav with tis hks evc is unstable boost control and most of the time i got boost creeping. for example i set my evc to 1.4bar, but i only managed to do 0.9bar on 1st gear, 1.2bar on 2nd and 1.4bar on 3rd ,4th and 5th.... sometimes it can creep up to 1.6bar... and i changed my controller.....

i changed to profec B brand new and creeping issue wasnt solve.... i can hear my wastegate opening even b4 i hit my set boost.... used tis unit for a month n i sold it....

honestly i lost faith on those EVC and since im working as technical sales guy for thermodynamic products , i took one of the air pressure regulators in my stor and install it to my car as boost control. im currently reffering to those regulators that use to regulate air to pneumatical control valves.. and it happen to be alot lot more better and stable then my previous 2 controllers.... at least im getting 1.2bar on 1st and 1.4bar on 2nd gear onwards to 5th and no more overboosting ....and recently i came across a website on DIY boost controller for audi i found out that i can actually add another pressure relief valve that will relieve air when it hit 1.35bar .... hence it will put creep into almost 0%... but i havent install the pressure relieve valve yet... but i will and keep u guys updated

Ive got the profec B right now and its really sensative to tune on a completely open exhaust. before I got rid of the cat it was alright.. but now 1% adjustment can spike upto 4 pounds.

the Avcr and the profecs use the same selnoid. Just the AVCR is way better as you can command it when to come on, when to turn off on each gears and rpms!

Easy to learn once you get used to it.. takes abit longer but comes on soo much harder.

Say 1st gear you can add +20% response, 2nd gear 20% more top end boost etc..

from an ease of setup point of view i would have to say the early profec-b would have to be the best.(big twin soleniod ver)
2 wires to hookup, 3 vac lines and away you go.
boost control is like a pool table (holds perfect) just set the high/low to where you want and use the gain to stop any spiking (or induce it if you like wheelspin)

    cheers

I have recently bought a Profec B II. I didn't think it was hard to install or tune if I wanted to. I haven't really had to change much though as I am running a 15psi wastegate spring. I set the warning, set gain to .75 bar did a dyno run and it was basically flat all the way so left gain as is.

I used to have a norgen valve setup which worked ok but never really got to test it with this turbo.

Overall, I found the Profec to be very easy to install and use and I would recommend it to others.

I have open exhaust so will be interesting to see how it goes with an extra % or so duty.

renxun: sounds like you may have other issues. Could be wastegate size, outlet placement etc. It is normal to get lower boost in lower gears because of less load on the engine.

BTW although the datalogs don't show that the EBC is bringing boost on quicker the car feels totally different to drive. I put this down to the fact that even though the boost is still coming in at around the same revs, it seems to take a lot less time to get to those revs! From my test drive the other day I was thouroughly impressed with the boost control and not so relevant to this thread the tune of the car.

thats because your 15psi wastegate spring eliminates most of the creeping issue that normal EBC has....as im still running on the 0.7bar springs i just bought myself the pressure relief valve that will only relief air feed to the wastegate when i hit the set boost... it should be the best way to do to a manual BC.....

the only set back is i cant key in boost value to up my boost or deduct my boost... just a rough guess as i get used on how many clicks i turn the knob..haha...

That is the exact reason I got the EBC. Repeatability

so it comes back to the wastegate spring X2 rule then. Get a 1 bar spring if you want to run 1.5bar and it should work much better.

yea...u see , most ebc do start to leak some air b4 it reach your preset boost... however the main concern is whether this amount of air is suficient to make ur waste gate start opening....

oh ya ...by the way where can i buy tis spring? how much yea?

depends what sort of gate you have. I have never had to buy one. Where ever you got your wastegate from would probably be a good place to look. Otherwise, I think they are pretty generic but don't quote me on that. But I am pretty sure I have heard of people using HKS springs in fake HKS wastegates.
