Default Buying after market remote central locking for DIY

I'm up for installing remote central locking for my camry, the kits seem really cheap($60) for 4 doors. Are there any kits any of you guys can recommend, or will the ones at Jaycar be fine ?

I got the jaycar ones and they have been working fine for 5 years or so now.

I've also used the jaycar kit in conjunction with their shadow immobiliser on 3 different cars now, no problems at all.

The hardest part is tightening the screw on the clamp that attaches to the original lock actuator, I use a bit of loctite in addition to screwing it down REALLY tight. This way is doesn't shift over time.

Thought i had a problem in my AE82 recently but it was only broken wires.

yeah, get the Jaycar kit, around $35-40. I fitted a unit of the same price from JB hi-fi in my g/f's jeep and it died in a few weeks, replaced the control unit with a jaycar one and no problems.

I've found the Jaycar kits alright, although I've had better luck using products from other places for the remote. One I've had good luck with is the Cyclops immobiliser (it's only $10 more than the remote locking only one, and has a nicer looking remote - you can leave the immobiliser disconnected if you like)

Personally, I can't stand car alarms and never use them, but use one if you choose.

i asked the guys at work (autobarn) and they said the viper alarms are pretty crap, though i dunno whether thats cos they don't like fitting them, or because they have problems
