Well, at least with the list full, it removes the temptation for me to give SPIDA a run on the dyno.

Cool Re: OST Dyno Day #2 - Held at XSpeed - 11th March

Well, I don't know if there were others in the queue before me? But I could be tempted...

Still not sure what you guys have come-up with regarding awards? I'm assuming the top HP Supra suggestion was tongue-in-cheek as that would be eliminating us non-Supra guys, and you big boys are probably a good run at the top HP award anyway.

    Here's my suggestion...

How about Most HP per engine CC?

That gives everyone, no matter what size their engine is a shot, and measures how much you get those little blighters (like mine) to pump out. What do you reckon?

That would tempt me a bit more

I guess SPIDA has been dyno trained, so there wouldn't be too much risk of damage

you need 30+ rep to have an avatar/ be a toymods member.

and HP per engine CC is likely to be a number like 0.05 something rather small...

although i like the idea, just needs a wee bit of refinement

LOL - true, I guess... that might produce a small number, but it's all just decimal points. So, make it HP/Litre if we want bigger numbers?

Thanks for info on the avatar. I'll have to work on my reputation

Like the displacement, there should be a similar factor for forced induction.

I know some racing classes have a x1.5 factor on displacement (ie: a 1.6 turbo would equal 2.4). There could be devisions by CC, like the Australian Taxation Office =)

    >1300cc
    1300cc - 2000cc (4AGE, 4EFTE, 3SGE, 1GGE etc)
    2000cc - 3000cc (5SFE, 5VZ-FE, 4AGZE, 3SGTE, 1GGT/ZE, 1/2JZGE, 5MGE, 7MGE etc)
    <3000cc (1/2JZTE's, 7MGTE, 1/3UZFE's etc)

That lumps the 4A's and the 3S's together, the 1/2Js with the 7m's. It puts the turbo 4's with the NA 6's, and the turbo 6's with the 8's, and I think it's pretty fair all around. It also gives the GG engines a chance to compete with the similar displacement 3S blocks, which might appeal to some =)

Are the Starlet turbo's 1.3ltr, or 1.5ltr? Toyota doesn't have a lot of >1.3ltr engines, and any 'performance' engine in this sector would be turbo'd anyway, bringing it into the >2ltr capacity devision. So we can remove the >1300cc division, barring a hard-tuned NA Echo or Starlet showing up =)

The alternative is a NA 4cyl, FI 4cyl, NA 6cyl, FI 6cyl etc awards, similar to Toymod's.

That isn't like Toymods though, Toymods is similar to what you originally had.
    NA under 1800
    NA 1800-2800
    NA over 2800
    F/I under 1800
    F/I 1800-2800
    F/I over 2800

Not that i'm saying we have enough enough people to warrant this, Toymods had 26 run on the dyno before it died, and 40 overall.

Question Re: OST Dyno Day #2 - Held at XSpeed - 11th March

Yeah, I don't know if we can justify too many categories either.

But if the idea of HP per litre appeals, we could tweak it for the NA cars to be factored in. Need to think about it a bit more, but off the top of my head, you could try something like:

HP divided by Engine capacity in Litres (for turbos multiply the capacity by 1.5)?

    So, mine might be 175HP/(1.5*1.6L) = 72.92 HP/L

Hopefully we wouldn't need to start distinguishing Superchargers or Nitro as well? I prefer to keep it a little simple, unless we do want to devise a formula to cover such things.

The only thing I'm not sure would be goood with this (and there's probably other things) is that any difference in capacity between 2 turbo cars will also be increased by a factor. A slight variation could be to use:

HP divided by capacity in Litres for turbo cars - full-stop, end of story

Then, if normally aspirated, multiply your result by 1.5 to bring it inline for comparison with the turbos?

    Just an idea.

jut multiply it by the amount of wind being forced into the motor. ie, 2jzgte running 1.5 bar is 3 litres times 2.5, 4agte runing .5 bar is 1.6 times 1.5 does it make some sense?

think we should keep the awards simple untill there are more cars on the dyno.......it would need to be upwards of 40 cars for us to have different classes

    for now iam going with

    highest hp
    best guess (guess your hp)
