drop tanks for the rear of 1ggte RA23/28..weight distribution...

hey guys,

another one for you......im just querying this atm.....

ive been thinking about drop tanks for the 23 and 28's (knowing that 28's already do..)

i need to balance the celica out,...as having a cast iron 6 up front, in place of 4, doest really help,

so would agree that having say, 100 ltre dropy at the rear would balance it up better? as well as lower the centre of gravity, by removing the seat mounted tank...?

any pros and cons for this setup that you can think?

plus it would lookk damn hot!

Youre better off putting in the effort to mount the engine as far back and as low as possible.
Make a new engine xmember/sump and modify the firewall if you have to.

I dunno... whats better?
1. Adding weight to shift the balance
2. Being front heavy, but less overall weight

i think a 1G engine is no heavier than an 18RC engine (which is a painfully heavy thing) - once you remove stuff like power steer and AC, the powerplant is probably lighter.

hmmm well all my crank turns is the alternator and nuthing else, lol

The 1G is tiny for a 6 dude. As said above, i'd be surprised if it wasn't lighter or at least the same.

from memory, the 1g weighs about the same as an 18r... the biggest difference was, as mentioned, the shift of the weight forward due to the longer engine.

I'd go with MWP here - look for ways to lighten the front (particularly in front of the strut towers) rather than adding weight to the back.
