has someone got a w50 shifter laying around to trial on a w55/8 box then? or vice versa? I am not concerned about the complete external housing, just whether you can use the shifter and whether the 4 bolts line up as well.

i have fitted the W50 shifter to a w55 just to see if it fits, it fits no probs and the four little bolts that hold the shifter in place bolt up aswell, and you can select all gears. so if the quick shift from technotoytuning just bolts to the top of the housing and not replace the whole selector assembly then i think it may work.....

If it fits let us know as i too am after a short shifter..
    Hey Strat,
No the link above is for a T50 in AE86, I just used it to give people an idea that I didnt want to just cut and shut my stick like someone else suggested, rather I was after a complete short shifter kit.
I have been speaking with Gabriel from TTT and he told me he made a small run of shifters for a P51 box and would see how the compatibility was with a W55/8. I told him I would check it and let him know as the P51 may be totally compatible.
I'll get back to everyone and let you know on the progress.
If it doesnt work then Gabriel is going to do a small run of W55/8 shifters and if enough demand will up the production

W50 shifters cannot be properly used in a W5x.

They phyiscally fit, bolt up, etc, but its not perfect.

thanks Cruzida, yeah after more in depth investigations, the P51 idea is going in the bin. A new batch of W58 short shifters will be made up from scratch, the same style as the AE86 T50 in the link above.
Thanks for everyones input. Appreciate it

If the short shifter is 16-20mm longer, and under $200, you'll have a lot of buyers.

dope.... i forgot about that ah gee, i'm glad i didnt go looking for it, i would've never of found it!

Back on topic, you can try and give acmtt a PM and ask if he has any schematics on the W58 short shifter he had made. Would make life a little bit easier.

    w58 short shifter fit a w57?
i assume it does, but i assume alot of things and get it wrong. so thought i would ask.
if it will fit my w57 id be quite keen on one.

on that note however it would merely be for comfort, i dont think theres alot of time to save in gearchanges if your excited enough
