And I don't have spring compressors (or more to the point can't find them) so need to pull off more bits to get the old struts out.

Tank was full of red crustacean looking fungi. Just swapped in the tank from the silver car and removed the bastard fuel filter. I'll get another filter in the morning and see how she goes. Hopefully nothing got into the rail. Booked into unigroup for tomorrow night although the high idle on the PFC is still a concern.

I'll also be trying to hunt down an alignment prior to friday, noticed a little wheel shake last night on the way home

What do you need compressors for to install coilovers (unless they share the same pillow tops of course) I thought it's just be a matter of, strut out ----> strut in.

Trust me, you can't get the lower wishbone down enough to maneuver the strut lower mounting point out, as the upper wishbone comes down and pushes the strut back towards the chassis rail. At the time I couldn't be bothered removing the strut mounting bracket off the lower arm... other option is to disconnect the upper ball joint (oh yeah, i have adjustable upper wishbones too ).

Getting the new ones in isn't a problem, being a good 2 inches shorter.
