well, in the manual it says to use a quide pin but i didnt do that.
ive jsut left the flexi plate and knocked the auto back.
so yes to that question i think.![]()
if you havent get your drain tray ready
i dont mind getting covered in it, i just dont wana break anything while doing it.
will i be able to lower it or should i move it back more.
If you have removed the TC from the flexplate, then you should only have to pull it back about 2" tops, then drop it.

ahh i c
if i got a hammer and tap it back thru the holes in the flexli plate will that move it?
the tc and flexi are already seperated anyway, ill go give that a try.
The torque convertor is bolted to the flex plate by 4 to 6 bolts. Make sure have all of them out, and then the flex plate should turn with the crank seperately to the converter. You just need to lever the convertor back to pull it out of the spigot.
figured out what was wrong, i missed one bolt...so i got it off in the end.
but a nother thing, there was a second throttle cable on comming off the auto? has that got something to do with cruse control?
i got the tc off, it came with the auto.
The cable would be a kickdown cable for the auto box
I am the sun
Its actually a shift pressure cable, as the box is electronically controlled.

Ive got a couple more questions i thought id ask while this thread is still going.
ive got the manual in and everything seams to be sweet.
ive plugged the natural starting switch off the auto in and bolted it to an empty hole at the top of the engine bay. Im running 4 dot break fluid in the clutch master as well.
My questions are?
The oil lines from the auto, where do they go? ive left them hanging there and ive been looking for a transmission cooler or something and haven’t found one just yet, should i not worry about them or can i just take them out, transmission cooler, etc...?
next question is does anyone know what wiring harness has the reverse light cables in it?
last question is... in my soarer i got eco, power and neutral switches next to my handbrake that ive left disconnected, do these have anything to do with the auto? can i still run them with out the auto?
sorry for all the noob questions, ive searched but to no avail from what i can find.
thanks.
Oil lines can be removed, as there is no longer a need for them. They should be connected to the bottom of the radiator.
Sorry, I forgot to reply to your message about this the other.. I meant to get back to it when I wasn't so busy![]()
The reverse switch is in the same loom as the neutral switch which most likely plugs in near the clutch slave. The neutral switch is the 2 heavy black wires with there own seperate connectors. Reverse is (if you can visualise it) the 2 wires in the centre of the larger plug, and closest the the lock clip. These on mine look to white and red/blue trace. That is on the vehicle side anyway, as the gearbox loom as a blue and a black wire.
Those other switch should not be needed anymore as I believe they just help control the auto with shift points and stuff.
thats ok, we all get busy some timeshows your auto conversion comming along?
sweet about the oil lines, and i thought as much when i came to the pwr and eco switch's just wanted to make sure.
and i get the netural switch loom being the seperate connectors but ill have to take a closer look at the other plug tomorrow. any idea wicth of the wires on the auto loom is earth? im taking a bet that the black wire on the gbox is earth.
thanks!
Wont matter which way you hook the two reverse wires to the switch, as that is all it is, a switch. The reverse switch just completes the curcuit to turn on the reverse lights.
I hope you understand that...
