No Idea Mr 1jz but I also have a rep value of 2 yet only have 19 rep myself. The only thing I can think of is that the post count has triggered a higher repping power. I sent a pm to Josh and also posted in another thread a couple days back asking if I am supposed to have the higher power.

stop frickin worrying about rep power ffs....
    it DOESN'T MATTER
just leave rep for people when you think they deserve it, and take it away when you think they deserve it.

i bet you all still have neg rep power of 1 tho..

and fwiw, i have rep power +3..... (as some ppl have noticed )

Wouldn't know neg rep but I can try if you like. Obviously it will only be given to someone making an arse of themselves of being arrogant.

    Hi,

I got only 1 rep point. I think it must also be rated on how many posts you have done. I've noticed those with <100 rep and are "Backyard Mechanics" have +2.

But as oldcorolla says, "It's just rep ffs". Ahh, a man of such eloquent terminology.

Still, I use my one point everso wisely, ffs.

makes me laugh this rep thing. .. see i'm laughing.
i've read all the different threads regarding it and cannot for the life of me figure out why something that really is a easy system/process to use and work out causes so much kaos (<spelling?). personaly i dont beleive in a 'neg' rep, but credit should be given when it's due if this is the system that these forums are going to use.

i dunno, maybe i'm just not understanding everyones complaints at all..... sorry.

please dont neg reg me now....

    Hi,

And it's a lovely laugh you have there.

I think people see this rep thing as a badge of courage, an indicator of self worth, a symbol of knowledge and power. It reminds me of people in RPGs that gain more character points - more strength, more guile, more charisma - stronger magic.

Really, if you're a member than you have all of that. If you're not a member then all you really need is 30+ points and you have it too.

Although it's supposed to be an indicator of your useful contributions to the forums, whether it is through witty comments, automotive knowledge or the prowess to ask the deep questions, it really is something that gets people all strung out for no reason.

Whether someone has 1 point (or less) or a trillion points, if they contribute technically or amuse me with their witty repartee then I'll listen to them and given them a point.

I've only neg repped one person who blatantly flaunted the rules of the Technical Forum. Other than that I always +ve rep when required. I make it a "river's rule" to never ever -ve rep in the Non-automotive section 'cos that's unfair (considering the nature of that forum) and I find it better to have a verbal at them rather than skulk behind my keyboard and smack them with king hit of a -ve rep.

I must admit that whilst intially not caring about rep points, I find myself having a look every now and then to see where they are!

In time everyone will stop fretting over their rep point status and live with it. The notion of being asked to contribute before using is a good one - after all new users can get all the free advice they need simply by asking questions!
