Asterisk beside peoples' names - what does it mean?

I have noticed that some people have an asterisk after their name. It would appear that when they dispense rep, their dispense two points rather than the usual one.

What does it signify? I have searched through the FAQ and can't find the answer to my question.

hmm..only time i had an asterix next to my name was when i wanted to be viewed as invisible on the forums....

This has been discussed before, its the invisible users on the forum, ie used to be Cool1 and a couple others. However with the new software Club members are still able to see invisble users just they have a * next to their name thats all.

How come I can see people with the * although i'm not a club member?

Ok maybe its not just club members then and everyone can see the invisible members except they are highlighted even more with an * next to their name.

So the fact that they can be seen and that they dispense two rep points rather than one would be a forum glitch?

nah i tried to go into invisible mode and give rep, only gave one point. so might not be applicable to all.

Nope invisible mode is turned off on the forums. If they can give out two rep then it's because their rep power has increased. There is a variety of ways this can happen, amount of rep, post count, time as a member etc.
